Having trouble sleeping every nite.

hi
have 170 days clean from Cannabis. The one major problem I'm having is not being able to sleep every night. Having pretty bad insomnia. I'm taking 10mg of melatonin, 5-HTP, trying to meditate, Etc without luck.
I was wondering if other people are having sleep issues after almost 6 months and if so what helps you to get sleep.
I exercise everyday and do hard cardio about 4 days a week. Don't smoke and I don't drink.
I have been prescribed Trazodone but it's seeming to not work as well as it did and I feel hungover in the morning. I'm having to take 200mg just to get some sleep.
This is been going on ever since I quit.
thank you.

Well done on 170 days! When do you exercise? I find if I exercise too late in the day my sleep can be really affected.

I find when I cannot sleep getting up and doing something until I am really tired can help. Nothing that using screens like TV, phone or PC but a crossword or some reading.

I am 6 months and 15 days into my marijuana quit. I also do not sleep well. I wake up about an hour or so after I doze off. Struggle to get back to sleep. I’ve use melatonin, all kinds of herbal junk, doxlymine (sp?) Benadryl, etc. Just went and got some ambien to day, 10mg. I will break one in half and try it to night, and hopefully will not wake up with a racing heart as usual. Never had any issues till I quit smoking marijuana. Even before I started smoking again, I slept great. While smoking slept great. As soon as I quit, my sleep left me and waking up with a racing heart, sometimes pounding. Freaks me out.

Faith-
I feel for you. I known what it is like. Like you, this a a new thing for me. I have quit before and insomnia was at the beginning.
Like you, I tried a lot of things without success.
Let me know how the ambien works.
congratulations on 6 plus months!
That is great...

Well, I actually cut the 10mg ambien in 4 parts. So I basically took 2.5mg of ambien and half of a 3mg melatonin. It actually worked pretty well. I took ambien before all this when I was a shift worker a long time ago. When I took it then, I took a whole 10mg and it would make me sleep good, really too good. I would wake up in the morning and there would be a 2 litter Pepsi in the middle of the floor, or food left out on the kitchen counter where I had eaten in the middle of the night without remembering it at all. So that’s why I cut the ambien in small portions and used melatonin with it. I’ve read a few articles that said low dose ambien and melatonin were safe and effective, and it did work fairly well. Before the melatonin would help me fall asleep, but then I would wake back up in an hour or so. I think now with the ambien, it helps me stay asleep. I would not recommend anyone mixing sleep meds unless they talk to a doctor, but for me, I’m at the point to where I need sleep, and like I said from what I’ve researched it’s safe in low doses. Who knows? I plan to do it again tonight. Hopefully if all this is paws, I will get back to normal. I honestly don’t like taking anything. Hope you find a solution that will work for you.
