Hi Starship,

Thanks for your post :)

I'm not sure what you know already, or which of our websites you may have visited, but I'll tell you what I know.

We tend to dream more when we have emotionally arousing thoughts during the day, which don't get 'completed'. By that, I mean we don't get to resolve them fully by acting on them, or making a decision as to what do about those thoughts.

When this cycle is incomplete, the brain attempts to 'flush out' the emotional arousal through the REM state by dreaming.

A really important thing to do when you happen to be over dreaming, is to make sure you don't oversleep. The longer a person is asleep, the longer their REM stages of sleep become.

So the best and maybe first thing to do is to make sure you're getting no more than around 8 hrs of sleep each night. I don't know how easy you find it to get out of bed in the mornings. You said you find your dreams tiring, so from this I'm suspecting that you might be finding it a little more difficult just now! You can always get a friend to call you in the morning, or set your alarm and put it across the room, etc.

You say that you feel better and the dreaming has decreased since you've been listening to hypnosis tapes. That's absolutely great, and I would think that the more you continue with this, the more improvements you will notice.

Hypnosis is a great way to decrease levels of emotional arousal, and the more regularly you relax, the more skilled your body and mind will become at relaxing deeply when you need to.

I am wondering if there is anything that particularly triggers those feelings of anxiety? Also, can you tell me about any times when you feel relaxed, and what's different about those times?

Well I'm glad to hear you're finding the websites useful.

It sounds like you're already making great progress, what with looking up information and also using the hypnosis tapes.

Great stuff . . .

Hello. Just thought I'd add that some medications have 'vivid dreams' as a side effect, (for example, I have experienced this when taking a beta-blocker called Inderal), so if you are on any type of medication, you might want to check it out with your Doctor. Best regards, Peanut

If you can cut out coffee and Coke, you might find that it helps you. They're both high in caffeine and can make you feel jumpy.
All the best
