Freaking out over stupid stuff?

Postby Tiani14 » Tue May 22, 2018 3:39 am

I have never done this before. I completely flipped. As I went into work, a cashier told me I would have to manage the front of the store for the rest of the night. I got so angry. My district manager was in, and when she asked me if I was okay, I went crazy. I cried so hard I couldn't even speak. My chest started to hurt, my breathing became shallow. I felt as if I was hyperventilating. It took my an hour to compose myself. I have never had a breakdown like that before. Please tell me I'm not completely crazy....that somebody else has done this too?

First thing is to investigate why you had the outburst.

It probably wasn't because you had to manage the store, but because of what that event meant to you. That you're overwhelmed, all on your own, no one to talk with.

What is anxiety? What are emotions? What's a good way for you to recognize your emotions and manage them as they come up instead of avoiding them and letting them erupt out of you at an inappropriate time?

People usually need some sort of breaking point to get them to take their mental health seriously. Maybe this is yours.

I think we have all been there - you are not alone. So many thoughts run through your mind at once that your body begins to shut down.

You can take steps to prevent this from happening again. I agree with the above poster. You need to examine what is going on in your life. Introspection is a great way to understand why you felt that way.

Some good questions to ask yourself -- what was going on that day? How did you feel when you woke up? How did you feel when you went to bed the night before? Trace back your emotions throughout the previous 48 hours, and you may find some signs or signals that indicated this was about to unfold.

It also helps to talk about these things out loud. It gets your thoughts out of your head at least, to the extent you can hear them out in the open. Do not give up. It can and will get better.

Thank you for replying. I definitely feel better now. I've always buried my emotions and refuse to let them manifest. I feel like expressing my emotions is some sort of weakness. Thank you for your help!
