How can I change my mind set easily

Postby hnliuhy » Wed Jun 30, 2004 4:06 pm

I planed to work on two projects. When I finish the first project, I can't help to take a long break, fool around before I start to work on the second project. For example, I made a plan at the early morning, to work in garden (from 9:00 am - 10:00 am), and study (from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm). But after I finished the garden work, I was so reluctant to study. I start to hang around, read books, watch TV. Two hours later, I was finally able to start to studying.

I am wondering if anyone has ideas about why is that, and how to handle this?

Thanks

Hi

Welcome!!

Have you tried doing the studying first and then the manual labour??

Also cut the study times into realistic chunks, no one wants to start a piece of studying if they are going to be forced to sit for three hours at a time. due to the way that our brains work it is helpful to have a break every 11/2 hours, even if it is just to stop the activity and have a wander around.

If your are well motivated for the studying this will help, if you aren't enjoying it .....think of all the benefits you will have when the course is finished.

Hi, Jill,

Thanks alot. It does help alot.

I understand your points are:
1. Ability to switch from one project to another is based on how these two projects are attractive. Switching from a boring project to an attractive project is easy, we don't need break.
2. It is always hard to start a project that seems hard, and frightening. The point is to get motivated as much as possible.
3. Brain needs break after 1 1/2 hour working no matter its master want or not.
