Why do I hate my best friend?

Postby Edme1018 » Tue May 15, 2018 6:45 pm

I've known my best friend since second grade. She was my favorite person, I'd always want to hang out with her, and so on. But recently this year I've noticed that I'm starting to dislike her. She annoys me more, I find it hard to enjoy things I do with her, and I just generally don't want to hang out with her. That's the only time I dislike her though. When I'm not around her, I'm the same I used to be with her. What's wrong? Can I fix this?

Probably you are starting to take different paths in life. That is normal, common, and healthy.

Take some time to reflect on what has changed, how each of your lives is moving forward. Are you going to college and she is not? Are you getting married and she is not or vice versa? In other words, figure out where your paths have diverged.

another point could be that you feel that she is not attentive to your needs like you are with hers. Or that she is complaining a lot for some reasons so just talking about her problems and worries, thus there is not space to talk about yours.

A lady once told me that she was in a similar situation. Her friend would talk to her just about the boyfriend that left her and used her out to reach her "goals with guys".

I suggested to tell her about this assertively. If she than would accept and change good, otherwise then it was her problem and it was time to distance from a person that had become toxic for her.
