Sexual stages recommendation other than Freud

Hi all

I'm fairly new to psychology and have been reading some brief overviews on Freud and his teachings on sexual development.
I understand them to be revolutionary for the time but that critical consensus has shifted away from some of his main theories?
Could anyone recommend a recent more accepted view of sexuality, childhood, trauma, behaviours etc?

Why should the consensus rule out probably superior research. I view dated German psychology far better than modern. Just as the Apollo moon landing came from early German rocket technology. Generally I read 1950s textbooks and learn a lot more. Currently reading 1920s psychology and it's awesome.

Thanks for your reply. I know what you mean, I prefer german language poetry holderlin, rilke trakl, celan to anything contemporary. Was just looking for something else to supplement my reading of Freud.

I think you should get a partner then you can do what you want and be involved and explore with this person.
