Hello.I just wanted to ask if I am depreesed. My friends started noticing some weird behavior I have and one of my teachers also asked my friend if I am ok.I dont feel anything except sadness,anxiety,nervousnes...I smile in front of people but I just dont feel happy.I talked to my family about depreesion and once asked if I look like I am depreesed. They said that I am just pesimistic and that is just a phase. They also said that depreesed people are mostly spoiled people.I dont know if I should like start really talking to them about it.Also a question. Is insomnia also a symptom of depreesion?Thank you for waisting your time for reading this pointless post.

Depression is not something you have to ask others if you have. If you are walking around sad and in a generally melancholy mood then something is bothering you. Depression can also be a normal part of living, so don;t always think about it as a disease. A person who goes out and has too many drinks can wake up with a hangover and feel like crap. That doesn't make them an alcoholic, right? So sometimes we experience these things because of something happening in the moment. Not everything is a deeper, more complex state.

Whats going on in your life right now? Is there not enough going on? Do you see your friends doing things you want to do? Is there something you want to achieve that you don't know how to reach? Is there something you did or witnessed recently that is weighing on you? Think about what is happening in your life and ask yourself these questions. Emotional registers like feeling bummed out, can sometimes be a notification from your mind and body that something is weighing on you too much and you need to sort it. Everything we see and experience goes somewhere inside us.

Typically we define those events and actions and store them accordingly. But other times there are things happening that we really have no immediate answers for and so our inner thinking about what to do with them lingers and our emotions start weighing down on the fact we are not finding a place for those items. We begin to carry that weight and it wears on us to the point where it starts impacting how we act. So sit down with a clear head and your eyes wide open. What is going on around you or IN you that is making you keep this sad disposition? Be honest with yourself and those answers will come to you.

I think if you want to share this with your parents, then you need to do this.

If you think you need to share it, do it. However, be careful as you don't want your parents to panic!

How long have you been down? Because everyone tends to have these periods, and if it hasn't been that way in a long time, I wouldn't worry to be honest...

What might help is try to set some goals for yourself: try to benchpress 70kgs at the gym, create your own game, become a ventroquilist.
