Julius, these are good generalised lifestyle tips for health and well-being.

Eating an apple won't get to the core of it's_a_me's issues in the short term and I doubt, the long term.

What options could you have open to you for obtaining good food and drink?

Absolutely right, one apple is not going to make a big difference short term or long term

and

There are the physiological benefits of supporting the body's immune system with consistently healthy lifestyle choices

and

There is a psychological benefit of taking control of the situation in terms of who is choosing what goes in in it's_a_me's mouth. An increasing ownership of his own health, physical and mental. He can know that he is responsible for his own nourishment and well being. Food consumption is a massively powerful metaphor for control. This is why so many religions talk about apples, bread, fasting, vegetarianism, pork eating, feeding the 5000, harvest festivals, slaughtering rituals, feasts, the list goes on.
