A new work based self help channel

Postby TheSchoolOfThought » Wed Jan 25, 2017 11:27 am

Hello everyone.

I've just stumbled across this forum and thought it might be worth sharing a YouTube channel which a friend and I started last year - The School of Thought.

Without wishing to come across as someone who just wants to promote their YouTube channel, we started a series of videos last year called 'Motivation Mondays', the idea being to tackle one work based issue per week and give viewers something to bare in mind for their week at work.

As a new user I'm not allowed to post a link but if you search 'school of thought motivation monday' on youtube we should be the first one that comes up.

Check them out, hopefully you'll find something useful.

Many thanks.

Ross.

Well Ross, you do come across as someone who just wants to promote themselves. There is a reason you can't post a link, because SPAM is against the rules of the forum. To cut down on SPAM, links are not allowed until you actually spend time participating in the community.

I did check out the channel, and you are trying to make money via advertising on a video with all of 46 views? Seriously? I have to watch a friggin ad to see your content?

If you want to grow your YouTube channel, here is a small bit of advice.

-1- Don't SPAM

-2- Don't try to generate money on videos on day 1. Initially, share your content for free, really for free and then after some time you will see some videos are high performers with 100K views and others are not so high performing. Then turn on monetization on the high performers and leave off monetization on the low performers.

When you try to monetize a video that has no views on a channel where there are basically no subscribers it has the following impacts:

-1- You will get a higher percentage of dislikes.

-2- People will not subscribe to your channel.

-3- People will not share the video.

P.S. good lighting, good opening and closing.

Thanks for the good advice Richard. I'd add what I'm doing: it takes time to become good at anything. So in the beginning it can be a blessing to be able to build up YouTubes that do not get many views. That way, when you're better at it, people will be able to see your progress and be encouraged by seeing your improvement live before them. Bigger impact once you're truly good at it :-)
