Mental health

Postby Bluebird5 » Sat Apr 16, 2016 5:12 pm

I'm hoping for some answers here as I'm feeling really let down by everything. I will try to keep it brief but any advice would be great. I have accessed help from the community mental health team for an eating disorder & it's what I've been living like since I was 14. I was assessed and dx with EDnos..it's the purge type & i have a history of excessive exercise also. The purging is between 10-15 times a day Anyway to cut a long story short I needed an assessment from a psychologist to see if I could have therapy but there are other issues aswell. I have been drinking too much alcohol and acting impulsively and have problems in my relationship because of this. I have always been a very impulsive person and get hooked on ideas easily. I throw myself into things and get hooked until the idea goes wrong & then it's onto something else. Anyway I had to explain this as this is what I told the psychologist who assessed me as I was hoping for some kind of diagnosis. She never mentioned a diagnosis though just the fact that I'm unsuitable for therapy. I was then given a number to contact to go through the alcohol issues & discharged from mental health services. I have no idea where to go from here & i think I fit in with bpd. Any advice on what to do from here. I've spoke to the community drug team and I'm getting off the drink for sure. I drink a bottle of wine most nights but only in the night. Please can someone help me. It's my first post on here

You decided to stop drinking. Then you say you drink a bottle of wine most nights but only in the night.

I suggest you stop drinking entirely, as in 24 hours a day no alcohol of any kind.

I meant I drink a bottle of wine per night. I don't drink in the day at all & i have 2 nights off per week. So I drink 5 nights per week..5 bottles per week.

Does this change what cynthia wrote? The best thing you can do for yourself right now is to abstain from any alcohol.

Yes I agree & I'm going to abstain. I've been in touch with the drugs & alcohol team because I need to make sure if it is safe to abstain completely!.

Good pair of decisions! Abstain -- and get help. They may have suggestions about supportive things you can do as you take care of yourself through this process.

All changes are a process... congratulations on beginning your journey to a better life.
