Help from a Friend

Postby ah9393 » Thu Jul 08, 2004 7:30 pm

I am a 23 year old male who is suffering from depression. I don't have a girlfriend anymore, so the only person I can really talk to is a male friend that I grew up with. He is always ready to listen, and one bad days he is always there. Once in a while he will give me a hug. There is nothing sexual about it, it just helps the situation. Do you think that is acceptable for a guy to hug another guy?

Sure it is! Hugs are comforting, not for sexual gratification (can't see how that would work...), just look at 'Friends', the male characters who are quite close hug all the time. I think not hugging would be alot stranger, the fact that you can shows that you're good friends and that it ISN'T sexual (for if one was attracted to the other, they would more than likely distance themselves and shy away from hugging).
