Getting over the fear of Public Speaking

Postby clemens » Wed May 08, 2013 10:14 am

Hey Guys…

I'm currently working on an idea that has been with me (& 2 friends) for quite a while that we hope to help people to overcome their fear of public speaking. I have suffered from anxiety of Public speaking myself for quite a while and got it under control with some cool cbt & nlp methods (and a LOT of discipline & perseverance).
I know from so many people who are changing classes in college or even skip really good job offers when they are required to speak in public or lead meetings. We have already talked to some psychology- & University professors about the topic and so far there really seems to be no solution. We hope to change all that by building a cool system built by humans ;) and is always with you when you need it.

To get a better understand of the problem, we are curious to talk to other people who are interested in our idea and want to share their experiences and struggles with public speaking.

Oh, and just to make sure - we're not selling anything here. We're just interested in getting in touch.
So if anything I wrote above got your attention I'd love to hear from you. You can drop me a line in the forum or send me a PM or an email to [email protected]

Really looking forward to hearing from you!

Hey Guys,

it's true what you guys are saying - practice really is key to becoming a greater presenter.
However, I find that reflecting on your fear and working on your beliefs can be an extremely powerful way to lose nervousness on a more substancial way.
As I wrote earlier here, I am the co-founder of a small startup - we are building a tool to help you exploring and working with your belief system to overcome your fear of public speaking.

If anyone of you guys is interested, feel free to drop me a line or sign up for an early invite. Feel free to check speakitt dot com

I have struggled a lot with this same problem. After practicing in college, I can now speak freely. However, I have a son who is struggling with the problem now but I'm really helping him. His teacher after I requested formed a club at the school to help children gain confidence. Needless to say, he is doing very good with confidence now.
I just want to say thank you for having this great plan to help many.

You can also ask the teachers of your son to encourage students with some rewards after giving their presentation. It will also help your son to gain confidence and to take more interest in..

As part of a hypnotherapy course, I help my patient with frequent relaxed breaths, panning eye contact, loud multi-tonal voice, moderate pacing of dialogue, open hand gestures, well-rehearsed content with brief notes etc. A key part of the programme is helping my patient to love role-playing (visualising) being the centre of attention, enjoying the eye contact from the audience and speaking as if being the authority on the subject-matter. This gets good results with anticipatory anxiety and self-belief for the performance on the day.

Hi All,

It was interesting to read all the different forms and techniques that one can have to overcome the fear of Pubic speaking. Just wanted to share my few cents - the way that worked for me is to join a Toastmasters Club. It is a non-profit group and can really work wonders for anyone looking to overcome the fear. This could be the first step..

There is plenty of material around but the most important thing is to listen only to those people that have been through the nervousness, the paralysis, the embarrassment and have come out the other side.

I am one of those people so if you register (free) of www.feartofame.com you will get a series of tips that will certainly help.
