job offers in ABA have me stressed out

Postby Lovelyella » Fri Jun 21, 2019 4:54 am

I am currently stressing out about my employment situation.

I work in ABA as a Behavior Technician and am looking for a new company, because the current one I am with does not have enough support for myself and the cases I am working on. The company in general, is a mess.

I started job hunting this week and found two companies im interested in, but scared to start because in ABA you start with one case ~10-20 hours a week.. then you slowly build up.

Company A is offering me $18 with the potential to build up my caseload and starts part time. They have some cases in which clients are in private schools, which make getting more hours an option, if I push for it. They provide tablets for data collection. This company seems very supportive and has the same mentality on quality for ABA services as I do.

Company B is offering $22/hr but can only promise part time up to 20 hours with a single case for a good amount of time. They do not like BT's to work in schools, therefore my hours would be Mon-Fri 2:30pm - 8pm. They said with time, if I have availability I may get another case, but morning hours are not likely. They provide tablets for data collection.

Then there is my current company which pays $17.50, has little communication within admin and clinical teams. I have to use my cell phone to take data. And my schedule gets switched around so often.

Im really unsure of what to do and so im looking to hear what others thinks.

Sincerely,

Stressed out girl

Company B.

You will be stressed and unhappy at every company, so you might as well go for the one that pays the most.

Seek out strategies or use BT to treat your underlying condition. Learn to better handle stress. Then differences between A, B, C or D might matter.

Pays the most, but can’t promise me the hours.. so how can I make more money with them?

Your missing the bigger point.

Choose whichever company allows you to profit the most. The reason, you will be stressed at all of them.

Your decision falls under the category “zone of indifference” because none of the choices alleviate the actual, real issue of stress at the job.

Therefore you want to conduct a two point strategy:

-1- Get the most profit from whichever company.
-2- Seek help on stress management.
