Have you ever felt like breaking/ smashing things when you are angry. I have sometimes thrown my phone across the room or broken a thing or two (NO judging pls  )

But sometimes I really wish there was a place where I could just go, smash stuff, vent out all my frustration and then come back with peace of mind  - something like a shooting range where you wear protective gear/ overalls and order plates, glasses by the dozen and then just break them (without having to worry about hurting anyone or cleaning up afterwards).

May not be the healthiest things to do but somehow seems quite appealing to me. Am I crazy for thinking so?

Are you angry often, notstressed? And is it usually triggered by the same kind of situation?

No Judgments! If you Think that what you are Doing is Okay, then an Anger MANAGEMENT Forum is probably not the right place for you. If you want to Share Your Exotic Experiences and Feelings of Release you Get in Pretending to be Destructive, well, maybe you can start your Own Group -- You can all Make a Club House and then Destroy It. and, As you say, If its NOT a Problem, then its NOT a Problem.

I'm not angry, but I like smashing things - the rare times I get the chance. Is it only in frustration, or is it something you'd enjoy?

Not to vent frustration, no - I've done it for enjoyment.

Dear Ceri,

I know of a Study that may apply to you, BUT you will REALLY have to follow me closely to see it. It was a University Study and it involved 100 Subjects who were hypnotizable. they all KNEW that the study involved hypnosis and so they were given TWO Suggestions -- the First was when they reached the Threshold of the door leading out of the room that they would see a bottomless chasm. Of course each of the Subjects was startled and reeled back from the Door. The Lab People doing the study thereupon took copious notes, and administer a Hypnotic Clear Command for THAT Suggestion and then thanked each of the Subjects and reminded him or her to come back in 3 days for his or her Check. the Subjects were Supposed to Believe from this that the Experiment was over. But tComing back in 3 days involved the Second Suggestion which was REALLY the Point of it all. That Suggestion was that if the Phone would ring in the Cashier's Office, that they would answer the phone themselves with "Joe's Pizza Parlor. May I take your Order?" Well, about 20 percent of the Subjects who came to pick up their Checks did NOT pick up the phone. they probably had the inclination to, but 3 days is a long time for a Hypnotic Suggestion and these Subjects were apparently able to fight off the Impulse to do anything so socially inappropriate. But the Remaining 80% DID answer the phone much as they had been instructed to. Well, the Person ACTING as the Cashier was actually one of the Lab Study People and he asked each subject something along the lines of "Well, that was weird, why did you do that?" NOW THIS IS THE IMPORTANT THING ABOUT THE STUDY. 80% of THOSE People MADE UP a Reason why they Answered the Phone -- they were able to think up a Justification, a Rationale. Only 20% of the Phone Answerers said something along the lines of "I have no idea. That is SO uncharacteristic of me." and offered their apologies. A few guessed that it was the Hypnosis. But the Point IS that People -- apparently 80% of people, WILL MAKE UP REASONS for why they Do Actions that are Merely Impulsive or the result of some subconscious drive.

So when you say you Smash Things Up because you "Enjoy It". Well, yeah, sure.

I've read your post carefully and I think I follow it and the point that most people will try to "justify" their actions. I don't understand the relevance to my situation and specifically the last line.

Dear Ceri,

Saying that you engage yourself in destructive behavior ONLY because you thick it is "fun" or whatever really does not explain anything. It just seem like a light breezy way to sweep your suspect and troublesome behavior under the Rug of Denial.

But, thanks for reading closely. they do say that Psychological Denial is a very Real Thing. It really is difficult for people who are in Denial to see what is clear and obvious to almost any objective by-stander. So when you say you just don't seem to get what I am telling you, well, I believe it.

Hmmmmmm, well, That brings my Thinking on to another problem. In the Old Days if you acted crazy then they would just pick you up and Institutionalize you, for the Public Safety and your own Safety. Now they leave it up to the people to recognize that they themselves have a problem, and then they wait for those people to show proof of Insurance coverage before anybody would even think of even the barest outpatient treatment, let along Institutionalization. So Between the Forces of Self Denial in the Crazy People and Governmental Apathy and Resignation in the Responsibility to Protect Society from Crazy People, there are probably Zillions of Crazy People out there who can't be trusted not to do Anything that crosses their Distorted and Dysfunctional Minds. But if they ever should Commit Mass Atrocities, I certainly hope it is because they "enjoy it", and not for some Sick and Disgusting reason.

"Suspect and troublesome behaviour under the Rug of Denial"? - My! - what a response! "What is clear to any objective by-stander"! Mmm! You seem to be getting hot under the collar, there. You see problems and craziness all over the place. You seem paranoid - maybe you could do with some counselling.

You are quick enough to diagnose me. Well, that may be a good thing, since it might get you to thinking about Somebody or Anybody going to Seek Help for what Seems to You an Obvious Problem.
