Dear Valleyanger,

Welcome to the Forum!

I tried to think of Something to add to your List of Benefits for Controlling Anger, and I came up empty. Your List though short seems quite complete.

But then I started thinking that on This Page sometimes people find Reasons to Maintain their Anger, finding that their Anger bestows some level of Perceived Benefits, at least as far as they are concerned.

For instance some people believe that Demonstrations of Anger are necessary to show Righteous Conviction or Intensity of Outrage. The assumption there is that to be Calm in the face of Injustice or Insult is to seem as though one is apathetic or indifferent. I wish that they could appreciate that one can still Act and Communicate Effectively against Injustice or Insult while remaining Calm…. Remember the old Teddy Roosevelt quote: “speak softly but carry a big stick”. We all have a certain “Big Stick” – it is our ability to Withhold Social and Economic Approval. With Everybody remaining Calm, soon enough Injustice and Insult finds itself Socially Isolated and out of a Job… at least within one’s own Social Circle. The Rich and Powerful can commit any Outrage against the Little People and laugh at their silent scorn. But in such cases as that, it would do the Little People little good to Get Visibly Angry. It would be better to save our Energy for the Revolution.

Then there are people who LOVE the Drama and Excitement that an Angry Scene presents. I think such people get a kind of High on the Adrenaline Rush of being Angry, and it is exhilarating to be waving one’s arms, stomping one’s feet and shouting swears at full volume. For people such as that, a Calm and Placid Life would not seem so much as Tranquil, Peaceful or Serene, but would appear to them to be pitifully boring, and they would fear it would make them emotionally stagnant. Such People as these – the Drama Queens and Fight Junkies – would benefit by realizing that they can always find some Art or Hobby where they could Express themselves in extreme or intense ways. Some Sports are a great outlets for those with a strong Aggressive or Competitive Streak, and those who love Drama… well, they should perhaps seek out some local amateur Drama Club, and take all the roles that may be described as being Obnoxious Loud Mouths.

You can read my answer here: viewtopic.php?t=105189 It is post #8

In it I briefly explains how anger can be artificially created by a cheat and by inhumane people related to the person.

And it also briefly explains how episodic anger can cause diabetes. I have some more info on my blog but I still got a way to go to explain it in medical terms as I am busy making videos.

I found that anger is also used in cancer to create "our little fighter". It makes the person feel more aggressive and as they mistakenly feel the problem is in the body they build bigger and bigger barriers of cells or in other words cancer masses. I have still not made the video on anger and cancer but you can see this video to see the general problem.
