stress and the immune system

How stress affects the immune system.

A short burst of stress, such as that caused by giving a speech, may strengthen your body's immune system.

But long-term stress, such as living with a permanent disability, may render you less able to fight infections, say the study authors.

Hi!

Since about May I've been bad with panic attacks as I've had exams (get results tomorrow...am VERY scared!) anyway, I was feeling really tired, my hair and nails were in bad condition, I had a sore throat, bruised easily and just generally felt run down, so I went to the doctors a week ago and he said that seeing as I'd been *stressed* with exams, and now worrying about the results, my immune system was really poor so I was picking up all infectiong (lovely I know) so he gave me antibiotics for a throat infection and viral infection, and said if I still didnt feel better to go back for blood tests.

Anyway, that was a week ago and I still feel bad, but should I wait until I get my results and see if I get any better, or go and see him? The thing is I don't feel stressed, I'm only 21, and I know stress can affect anyone but at my age, I feel a bit of a wimp/fraud getting so worked up when other people have so much more on their mind!

Just thought I'd share that as it fit in with what you were saying!

Hope everyone is happy :)
