Old dog with new tricks

I posted something similar but I'd like to say it differently if that's okay. In many ways I've been way down on the EI scale over my 60 some years. My usual forte is to reject the other person at the slightest sign of rejection or disapproval from them. Like revenge is a big part of me. I'm saying 'well then I'll show you. See how you like it if I don't say a word to you for a LONG time!' I'm reallly good at this, at making enemies! I can have several going on at the same time. But now after encountering wise words such as 'only the ego can destroy a relationship' and 'don't destroy a friendship in order to save your ego' I guess I've risen to a higher level of EI. These are some quotes I've read. When I encounter one of these hard cases I flash the thought 'don't destroy the relationship to save the ego'. And how wonderful, the freedom it brings and I even appear to be the superior person! Someone said that the greatest insult may be to show that you don't care what the other thinks of you. But I'm not trying to insult anyone.

When someone is less than charming to you, you can give a silent blessing and a smile. You can internally say "I love you and I forgive you"

Emotional intelligence allows us to perform at our peak performance in all facets of our life - not just our relationships. The way we interact with people makes all the difference to our lives - careers, relationships, and more.
