In need of some advice..

I've been deciding how to start this, and I don't really know how. So, to simply put it I think I'm gay. And by think I mean I am. I have a girlfriend, and I think she's pretty, but I cannot see myself possibly doing anything remotely past simply looking at her face. I do not know how to break it to her. I am also trying to come out to my family. My father is a homophobe and who knows what my Mom is. I overall think that they would treat me in a completely different way, a way that I don't believe I would be too fond of. What I'm basically asking is, Help. How do you reckon I should go about telling them?

- Love, Cola.

Call a gay helpline and tell them you're about to come out to your family. They have the experience to advise you, and you're going to want their support while you take your first steps in the gay community.

If all you've done with your girlfriend so far is look at her face, she doesn't need to know right now.

Yes, some of the people who assume you're straight are going to treat you differently when they find out you aren't. The alternative is to keep it to yourself, and I gather you've been doing that for a while.

I hope your father will surprise you, after the initial shock, by softening his attitude and continuing to love you.
