'Depersonalisation' is a term used to describe a sense of detachment from experience, people might describe it as feeling flat, unemotional, not associated with what's going on, like watching yourself as a detached observer, feeling unreal.
A line from a Jackson Brown song comes to mind:
'You watch yourself from the sideline, like your life is a game you don't mind playing.'
This ability to dissociate is something that all people do at different times - and can be very helpful in the right circumstances, it's only a problem when it becomes too prevalent and interferes with day to day functioning.
Depersonalisation is considered a symptom of anxiety and can be linked to depression.
I'm afraid I don't know a lot about SSRIs, but I think depersonalisation may be linked to withdrawal from SSRIs,
