Can hypnotherapy work on people with severe trust issues?

Postby starleaf1 » Thu Aug 20, 2015 1:50 am

I've been having anxiety attacks lately, and I'm thinking that hypnotherapy might help me. Here's the thing though. After years of having trust issues, my mind has developed something that I'd like to think as an automated defense system. It fights back against anything that's designed to get into or influence my mind, such as subliminal marketing, skinner boxes, propaganda, or even just a repetitive song.
Can hypnosis work on me?

Would you trust a hypnotist if the forum's answer was "yes"?

You might be more comfortable (and save yourself some money) if you go in for self-hypnosis. Affirmations about Who You Are would be a great way to start.

Replace I have trust issues with I trust myself to know what to do in any situation
Replace I have an automated defense system with I am open to all positive experiences

A Silva Method workshop would be helpful in getting you started. It isn't cheap, but you'd come out of it high as a kite and with all the tools to create your own life and the kind of person you want to be.

I recognize some things the OP says. Rational people dont have the capablility to instantly trust someone.

In a book I read that there are two types of people, ones that easily go into an undeep trance but block when deep trance states occur. The other type is the opposite and is not open for any suggestible daily rapport building trance but if they agree themselves with being hypnotized then a trance will occur.

But im not sure if the above is what makes you go in defense? Surrendering completely to the hypnotist and giving him/her full control over you?
Well I guess a doctor does the same when you go into consult and giving you pills (good or bad brands) or in a hospital and the doctor is giving aenesthisia and in that way there are dozens of daily situations in which you might be sceptic.
