ex-girl has low-self esteem depression

Postby thiva101 » Fri Jan 26, 2018 12:54 am

Me and ex-girl broke up 2 months ago. She has low-self esteem depression. I have taken the advice of the board and plan on talking to her once a month.

I meet up with her to try to cheer her up, she didn't leave her bed for a week. We catch up, share some old memories and jokes. She just can't seem to forgive me for a few bad comments/jokes I made about her body. I said I was sorry she can't get past it. she put me in a group of people that she didn't expect to hurt her. Beyond on that, we had a great relationship, we were best friends. She said she misses me, talking and hang out but at the same time, she wants me to move on and find someone else. She starts therapy this week or the next.

I'm confused, any advice?

She relies on your guilt. As long as she can make you feel guilty, as long as she doesn't forgive you, she has power over you. This is a type of power many people with low self-esteem/depression use to their advantage.

Stop feeling guilty. You made comments you regret. You apologized. Whether or not she forgives you is now irrelevant. That is on her, not you.

Move on. Life is too short.
