That is close to how Europeans ate circa 500-1000 AD, and an article in Science Daily claims, "Men From Early Middle Ages Were Nearly As Tall As Modern People".

The staple recipes at that time were pottages, which would have been similar to passing freshly picked plants-based favourites through a blender and a microwave. I doubt it tasted very good.

Men started shrinking from 1300 AD, which coincides with the mass consumption of processed imported food (dried/salted/pickled/cured/smoked/preserve). Many of today's mainstays such as cheese, potato, wheat, and rice had not yet been discovered.

Many people advice a fruits and vegetables dominant diet but vegeterian whose diet consists mainly from fruits and vegetables aren't so healthy. So?

I think you mean Vegans are often unhealthy. Vegetarians are generally more relaxed and intake plenty of animal proteins (and animal fats) by consuming dairy and eggs.

Vegans are sometimes unhealthy because there are often too few essential amino acids in their diet. The amino acids are the basic ingredients that a human body needs to build itself. Living on only root vegetable protein would force a human body to build its own human proteins with key ingredients missing! It will then get those missing ingredients by consuming itself!

As I tried to explain earlier in this thread, if we actually ate wild fruits and vegetables as nature intended, then we would also accidentally eat a lot of insects! The Early Middle Ages Men mentioned above would have mushed together their dirty roots and unclean leaves, which would be riddled with beetle larvae and other good sources of essential amino acids. It is not something I would advocate reproducing at home, but I also think their diet was very balanced and natural.

I would suggest having some cheese with your grapes, and maybe a ProActive yoghurt, but that could be just to my taste.. ;)

The precise reason is that just because you eliminate one mistake, it does not mitigate the other four mistakes that man makes with his diet.

See this post, and use your thinking cap.

Anemia is one of the more common complaints, often caused by Vitamin B12 deficiency. I think you are suggesting many Vegans suffer because they heat their food, and heat destroys many vitamins. Hot alkaline destroys B12.

However that does not mean I agree with you because, in your suggested diet, fruit seeds are the main source of protein. The problem with this is that most people throw away their fruit seeds! I do eat most apple, orange, and grape seeds - but they do not taste good - and apple seeds contain cyanide.

There are many myths related to nutrition.. for example eating tryptophan rich foods to cure depression is a myth. I learned that dietary tryptophan doesnt cross brain blood barrier.

ı read a popular book devoted totally to cure mood by dietary means. Such confusing concept.

Honestly, if I had more time, I'd get into this with you. Proper and natural nutrition is one of my intellectual passions. However, my current life circumstance requires that I devote my focus in another direction. There are plenty of people who show themselves on YouTube, and I'm sure elsewhere, as being so healthy that it is almost mind-boggling, probably because the average cultured mind refuses to accept anything that is different than what it has been taught its whole existence.

Good luck, gentlemen, and blessings.

Me too. First time I read Fit For Life I felt really inspired by it. The authors advocate nothing but fruit and fruit juices until noon. I did that, and as promised I dropped 10lbs in three weeks, had tons of energy and felt great.

I haven't seen any evidence of this, although I do believe that when you're vegetarian you have to take more trouble over what you eat. It certainly isn't just a case of excluding meat.

I maintained the all-fruit breakfasts for 20 years, from '97 until very recently. However, I have always drunk coffee and my diet apart from breakfasts was erratic. As you know, I'm also a smoker. The book says poisons are automatically stored away from the vital organs, which leads to rolls of fat on a basically healthy frame. I've now got my share of that, and I know they'll be the first things to go when I clean up my act.

At the moment I'm enjoying porridge breakfasts with dried fruit and honey. I'm gearing myself up for a change. You may well ask what the hold-up is. In a word: addictions.

I'm feeling better having one juice 'meal' a day. It was a challenge last night because husband had cooked enough for two and it smelled delicious. I almost caved but no, I was determined.

Earlier I noticed he'd put all his junk foods (mostly biscuits and chocolates) into a big shopping bag. I asked him if he planned to give them away but he said no, he just wanted to get them out of his sight.

How could I not understand, when I frequently hide my cigarettes from myself? :?

Anyway, it's a good sign. He realises I mean business about changing my diet, and it looks like he wants to do something along that line for himself. Fingers crossed he doesn't start snacking in front of me as he's accustomed to doing in the evenings.

Yes, I think you need to keep challenging yourself. Maybe you'll want to start exercising more, walking as fast as you can until you're too warm or out of breath, then you slow down until things are back to normal and speed up again.

Also I wonder whether you're having enough variety in your juices.

Last night's was a lot of carrots, two parsnips, a beetroot and some spinach. I put a few spoonfuls of the pulp into a bowl and poured the juice over it then ate it with a spoon as if it were soup. It tasted great.

Interesting recipe. You invented. Juicing home isn't likely it's very boring to clean the juicer you know I'm a lazy man. Walking okey. I will juice from shop with varieties.

I agree juicers are often hard to clean. I discovered a long time ago that it feels better to rinse off all the component parts before I have the juice. The spout drips for quite a while anyway, so I can get all the other parts clean in that time.

If/when I shift to an all-juice fast I'll empty the pulp bin every time but definitely not clean up until the last juice of the day is ready to drink. Don't know how that will work out, because husband and I struggle for kitchen bench space without a juicer sitting there all day.

I like the process of sticking to the fruit and veg aisle of the supermarket, choosing whatever has eye-appeal, although I'm sure it would be more satisfying to buy from a farmers market where they have very fresh locally-grown produce, usually at less than the supermarkets charge. But I too consider myself lazy when it comes to certain things.

I do believe a week of nothing but juice would have radical benefits. Let's just see what happens.
