Leaving bad counselling training courses - your experience?

Postby Purplesky » Thu Jan 31, 2013 10:25 pm

I have had a bad experience with a counselling training course. Its a long story, and I will spare you the details, but their attitude to me was awful, arrogant and cold, and I decided early on to leave the course, which was the right decision.

However, now I am gun-shy of counselling courses because of my experience and also still recovering from how unpleasant and traumatic the experience was for me.

Has anyone had a similar experience of psychotherapy/counselling courses that have proved shockingly disappointing e.g. lacking in compassion or integrity, or some other underlying problem? Did you leave the course? Did you do another, better counselling course instead? Or did you decide otherwise?

Thanks.

You don't need to attend counseling training course in order to become a good counsellor. It is matter to get to know counselling techniques from various sources by reading them and practise it.

My counseling training course is explained at:

Hi, I am a Counselling Tutor based in Manchester.

I would not be put off by one bad experience, my advice would be to visit the local college and training providers and ask to meet the tutor/s.

Most will be only to happy to speak with you , tell them your experience.

Trainers like therapist , some you will like some you wont.

Don't give up
