weight loss - gain - starving

Postby djenner » Mon Jul 20, 2015 1:43 pm

Hey,

I needed to lose around 40 kilos and started in March this year. I had lost about 20 of them by June by putting myself on a protein diet. Got through all the phases but now I'm back to normal and I'm so damn hungry, I need to have my stuff ( sugar, french fries,....) or I'm starving. It feels like I've been doing wrong to my body for a while and now I'm back.

In the past I've been through this so many times before. I'm overweight, lose weight and then I get back to where I was before, or even worse.

Yesterday, I wanted to start again but today I couldn't do it anymore, it's just something in me that would explode if I would go on with this.

The thing is: for three months, I was able to restrain myself, to be a good boy.

I know everything, but literally everything about food, sports, nutrition,....I knew that a protein diet wasn't the best option but I had to lose that much that a faster method was the only thing helping me out psychologically;
So now I still need to lose over 20 kilos. I try to tell myself: it's no longer as much as it was in March, but it's still something that requires diligence.

Nutrition and sportswise I probably know all the answers to my questions, it's just the psychological part that is so hard

The required diligence is the most difficult aspect.

Research by Roy Baumeister supports that you have a finite, yet rechargeable amount of willpower. It is like a muscle. You can only do so many repetitions until you are exhausted. Because it is a finite resource, it ends up getting split amongst competing goals. Diligent about not smoking you gain weight, diligent about weight, you smoke.

There are two approaches you can take:

-1- Strengthen the willpower muscle or,

-2- Set up systems to help conserve the finite resource.

An example of setting up systems include putting a lock/chain around the fridge. Do not buy unhealthy foods, package meals for the entire week, break meals into smaller portions (packages), etc. etc.

Here is a book by Baumeister.

When you are in a process of shedding some weight, first thing to keep in mind that never think that you will get drastic change in a month or two. We do not gain weight overnight.

When I start losing weight I never think about how much am I losing weight but to follow a healthy diet and a regular 20 to 30 minutes of exercise/yoga. I also focused on flexibility. I have done some stretching exercises like hamstrings stretching, upper back, and lower back stretching exercises which helped me a lot
-Another tip to weight loss is to chew more. Take atleast 20 minutes to finish your food.
-Do yoga 2 days in a week and cardio 3 days in a week for half- half hours.
- If you feel sugar craving- have dark chocolate.
Make sure that you are not constipated if so then add lots of fiber to your diet
-Stop eating white bread, white sugar, white rice, Wheat flour, refined flour
-Cook food for yourself and enjoy making it.
-Have good amount of sleep
-Stop thinking about how much weight you shedding instead think of something beautiful which makes you happy and content.
-You can have anything you wish twice in a month but make sure you focus on the portion size.
-Think positive and always keep in mind that weight loss is process of a long journey with constant enthusiasm of being -following healthy diet and be satisfied with you are eating.

Hey there, there are many was to lose weight, yet its a little harder to do than say. Yes willpower has a lot to do with it. Only buy healthy foods at the grocery store, and never shop when your hungry, or you can have someone go shopping for you to avoid the temptation. Having an end goal helps too. What do you want to look forward to? Having a beach body, looking good in clothes, anything goals helps. Hopefully this helps and if you want more advice message me on fb connor h cranston.
