Listen to other people gives me a sore head!

Postby Blitzkreger » Mon Nov 19, 2012 10:35 pm

I don't talk much to people but people love to talk to me. I find that because I don't talk they bombard me with words I feel hammered by the volume of words and the nonsensical boring topic that they are rambling on about. It gets to the point where I get a sore head right between the eyes I don't want to be rude but how do I tell them to shut up?

 You hope to kill someone one day and you balk at being rude? Be rude, mate. You don't want friends anyway, and you find their conversation boring, so what do you have to lose?

This all seems to have become very aggressive.

May I ask you to consider simple things like:

· Walking away from the conversation physically.
· Or, walking away from the conversation, but do it in your mind.
· Or, stating, “I know you want to talk to me at the moment, but I don’t feel up to it.

These are all non-threatening approaches .

Maybe you could 'close' yourself off. Folding arms, looking around and not interested in them in the first place, checking your watch, even asking them the time. when they start talking, just let them know that you would love to stay and chat , but you have a call to make in 2 mins.... just some ways i do it. :)

One of the tricks I use when I know some one is going to speak to me that I don’t want to get involved is to pre set up the situation.

For example:

As soon as they say hello, I would say, “Hello. I only have 5 minutes and then I have to go.”

When you 5 minutes (or whatever) has gone by, you say, “As I told you, I have to go now. Bye…”

This always pre empts any hurt or rejection feelings from the other person.

Another option would be to just get away from people but do it with respect by telling them that you need to go somewhere...
