:-( forever depressed!!!

Postby blue_girl » Sun Jun 20, 2004 4:08 pm

This is the first time someone mentions the some symptoms I have.
I'm 35 years old and I've had a depression for a few years. According to my doctor it's endogenous. :( It's not very obvious for people around me because I'm witty ang always a good company. Don't know how...
Anyway I've tried to stop taking the anti-depressants about 3 or 4 times and I've never succeed. It really seems that I can't function without the chemical stuff. it's when I get worse (usually when I'm stressed) that the panic attack happens with those symptoms - hot head, sweats and the feeling that something ir awfully wrong.
I'd like to know if someone has the panic attack in the some occasion and if you think it's really possible that i'll never be able to live without the anti-depressants. :?

Hi blue_girl,

Welcome to the Forum.

When your doctor says that your depression is endogenous it just means that it can't be attributed to a specific external cause - endogenous just means from within. It's not really that useful a distinction.

Have a look at the Depression Learning Path if you'd like some useful information on depression and living without anti-depressants.

The Panic Attacks Website will let you find out about overcoming your anxiety.

Can you live without anti-depressants - well, you did for many years before you started using them and like many people you can stop using them - but it's always best to do this in a controlled way with the support of your GP.

Good luck
