Emotional Intelliigence (emotional awareness) in schools

Postby DebbyYeh » Thu Dec 06, 2007 1:14 pm

My name is Debby Yeh. I come from Taiwan.

I am a PhD student in Coventry University. I am currently conducting a study that addresses the potential of multimedia art (animation) to facilitate students' emotional awareness in school education (primary and secondary schools). This relates to the improvement of the Emotional Intelligence of the students through the practice of the digital art. I intend to invite school educators to include animation class in the National Curriculum. In order to do so, I will need to understand what are the current EI grammes are used in schools and how it is organized. If the schools do not have such program to help students to improve their ability of emotional awareness, I aim to understand whether animation class could be an EI program to benefit the students in this regard.

I am looking for the primary and secondary school teachers to participate in the online survey of the study. I wonder if anyone could possible advice me where to look for the teachers to complete the questionnaire.

If you are interested in participate in the survey, please email me at [email protected]. I will forward the link for you. Thank you.

Best regards to everyone :)

Just a thought but you could try the LEA (local education authority). They may be able to put you in touch with interested teachers or schools.

Very interesting topic. If only we had more teachers pushing these very important topics to be covered in school...

Best of luck in your venture

The most effective method of proving the validity of mutimedial art on EI scores is to round up middle, elementary, and high school students in a cross-section study and enroll them in a class. Before, and after the class, have them take an EI test.

By the way, which model are you using? (Goleman, ESI, ability-based, etc.)
