Free emotional mastery website

Hey everyone,

Wish I found these forums earlier when I was in anger and depression...I've now managed to conquer these feelings (with a little help from my counsellor, but mostly through months of self work and reading).

I've built a free site with some articles I've written on these, there's lot more to come as it's only been up for a fortnight or so.

Have a look, I hope it will help:

Hi Urbanmonk. I have only read an article or too but I can already draw parallels with my own experience. This is fascinating reading! It is true that people will be skeptical but that is because we all need to experience before we believe.
I will be reading about your spiritual experiences later as I came to enlightenment in about a month and changed my view of the world radically! Thanks for providing the link.

Hi mate, thanks for the comment, glad you gained something from it!

I forgot where I read this, but there is a quote that says "the more personal you think it is, the more universal it is"...I was also surprised to find that what I thought was my own problem, a lot of people have as well!

Yes some of the stuff is a bit more spiritual and the anger stuff is pure psychology based... but rest assured I only write about what has worked, spiritual or not!

Cheers!

Hi urban (can I call you that? ). I've read your article that poses the question about the higher authority than the mind. Is that not your spirit? I have discovered an inherent wisdom within me can I cannot explain. Something is working outside of my consciousness that provides messages that are designed purely to promote my wellbeing.
These messages come in the way of thoughts and feelings and by learning to interpret them (become more conscious) I am simply stunned by the beauty of the messages and the eloquence in which they are delivered!

Hiya Jonny,

I don't know the answer to the "Who am I" question, because if I know it for real I would be enlightened hehe.

There is a path to enlightenment where one repeatedly asks himself that question, and tries to feel the answer - not intellectualise it, and not simply repeating it to yourself. Supposedly the answer is that you are nothing and the whole world is an illusion. Telling you that won't enlighten you, as that will only make you intellectually aware, but once you truly understand it, then you will have the effect. For example, you might know that swimming in water is nice and refreshing, but you wouldn't understand it unless you've actually been in water. Does that make sense?

As for the outside consciousness giving you advice, I'm not too sure as I have been practicing a different type of meditation (clear your mind), but you might be referring to what is known as your Higher Self. I've read about that but never actually got into it. Research that online if you want. I've got some book recommendations on my site.

Hey can we carry discussions across to the comments section of my actual site? So that other people who read my posts can see this?

If you can do me a favour and copy and paste your previous comments across to the site, and I will paste my replies, to that, and then we can continue the discussion there?

thanks!

I like this website a lot. I'm currently in the process of reading through the archives on a regular basis.

Although the approach is a little more spiritual than my own, I appreciate UM's honest and down to earth style.
