Dreamy Nightmare

Postby Lonbon » Mon May 17, 2004 8:47 am

I've always thought of dreams as the window to your subconscious, but lately, I don't know what's going on. I've been having a similar nightmare for the past week, and it's strange. I always start out with my family, although, how many of them is always changing. Last night, it was my entire family, and a whole bunch of people I didn't recognize. Well, usually it'll be some type of family gathering like a birthday party, which was also in last night's version, and everything is going great. Then the dream turns into a nightmare, and me and the part of the family I am with... once just my mom, and sometimes a whole lot more people, realize that we aren't safe, although I've never actually seen the attacker I don't think, so we run. The nightmare always ends at different times. Sometimes right when we start running, but once it went far enough for my mother to be killed, and then come back to life shortly after. I can't explain why she came back to life, but I think I willed that into the nightmare somehow.

I usually wouldn''t think twice about my dreams, but the family gathering, then the attacker, and then the running (and possibly murders), seem to link all of my dreams the past week, which I do find strange. Any help?

Hi Lonbon

Welcome to the forum!

Dreams can be very strange, and sometimes frightening. However, we now know a lot about the function of dreams, and how our brains create dream images.

Take a look at this article about Dreaming. It could help you begin to make sense of this repeating dream that you are having.

Come back and tell us what you think!
