Physical Symptoms (Stories)

Postby Longduckdong » Thu Aug 19, 2021 4:25 pm

If anyone knows me I have been struggling. I was a 15 year smoker and went cold turkey. It has been a massive struggle but I believe I am starting to see some positive changes. I want this thread to focus on physical symptoms and timelines. Everyone is different but I believe this can help people with understanding their physical symptoms and know this is not a life long battle. I will start.

Month 1: not too bad. Headaches, nausea, and muscle aches.

Month 2-4: massive headaches, muscle fatigue, hot flashes, eye twitching, and body weakness.

Month 5-6: dizziness, tired constantly, trouble focusing on screens, screen headachs, hot flashes, and wierd headaches that made me feel like a balloon.

I know this is just my story and I have some health anxiety. I am constantly working to overcome it but wanted to share how my symptoms seem to be changing all the time. I hope others participate and thanks to you all.

You're feeding the anxiety.... that's just an opinion to consider.

You think my symptoms could be caused by obsessing over my health thus making recovery a little more difficult? I'm honestly curious cause sometimes I feel that way. Lol

I think it's a possibility to consider. If people can actually believe they are going to die when having anxiety or a panic attack then why can't you believe you've got this or that... the mind is an incredibly powerful thing. I hear time and time again on this forum people asking if PAWS has caused xyz and are adamant something has been damaged, yet all the health checks are normal... no, they can't be, the doctors wrong, doesn't understand addiction etc etc... If you think you are, you will be seems to override the evidence, then someone will post "Does anyone get this....." and hands go up, so it's REAL and everyone who doesn't is either lucky or wrong. Either way, I only try to offer support but you can't support anxiety by constantly thinking I must have damaged myself because....... it creates more anxiety.
You're not going to die because you smoked weed, you're just not. Focus on being drug free, live life, get out and do thing you didn't do getting stoned everyday.
You wanted to be free and now you are....

I'm at 9 months and I still have lingering physical symptoms. Mostly flu-like malaise, weakness, chronic fatigue, and constant muscle twitching with involuntary jerks. Anxiety and panic attacks are there, but mostly fueled by the constant battle with physical symptoms. I've known to be relaxed watching TV and out of nowhere get a painful muscle twitch and cramp in my chest that triggers a panic attack. I've been to many doctors, had one too many tests done, and all is cool, I know that to be true. But feeling sick and having so many physical stuff going on for so long can bring down even the strongest of minds. It keeps getting better, but anxiety's a bitch.

I’m 9 months. Still get weird little headaches and/or throbbing in my head, I see double (usually gets better by afternoon), I am still taking medication for cannabis induced panic disorder, extreme exhaustion at night if I feel better during the day and do to much, oh and the nureal (some are calling it tinnitus) noise in my head has lessened but is still pretty much constant. Some days louder than others and fatigue.
Mornings are terrible I feel the worst, and lately I have not been feeling right in my body again.

I am struggling with similar sh**. I have been working on self talk a lot these past couple of days. It seems to be helping me overcome my anxiety. What sucks the most is ever since I stopped smoking weed my anxiety that stems around issues is insane. I have one little issue and it leads to massive anxiety. I am going to focus on not feeding the anxiety like tokeless said. I am really starting to believe my issues become magnified when I focus on them.

At 2.5 years and mostly better now. But I had really bad physical symptoms that tapered off slowly for the first 2 years. Still have some mild ones on my bad days now.

Headache was by far the worst. My head felt like it was in a clamp - multiple clamps compressing my head in every direction. It was debilitating. Started week 1 and got better slowly over 2 years. It was unrelenting, every day, nonstop.

Facial pressure (felt like sinus pressure). Had it for 2+ years. Usually around the eyes. It's mostly better now, but I do get it occasionally during a paws wave.

Sore muscles. It was like my muscles would just not repair themselves overnight like they're supposed to. It was so bad that things I use every day (fingers, hands, legs) were perpetually sore. If I exercised, it was a 1 week recovery before I would be the "normal" sore again. This lasted about a year and a half.

Swollen lymph nodes in jaw. It started out as both sides, but the right side got better after 6 months or so. The left side is one of my remaining symptoms whenever I have a PAWS wave now. It was very swollen for 27 months. It felt like you do when you're sick and your lymph nodes swell, but only on one side and bigger than usual. I could physically feel it was bigger by touching my left and right side jaw and comparing the two. Though it wasn't painful, it was very annoying and usually came along with other worse symptoms.

Tinitis. Had it on 4 or 5 occasions, lasting 2 or 3 days at a time. Very annoying but again not painful.

Low libido / ED, really a mental problem but it's lasted 2 1/2 years and just feeling some weeks where I'm doing better now.

Night sweats. I hardly slept at all the first few months but those few hours I did I would sweat like crazy. And it would smell.

Everything else I had I would qualify as mental - stress, anxiety, brain fog, depression, insomnia, crazy dreams. But for me, the headache was by far the worst thing I had to deal with (followed closely by insomnia).

@sparklefly12 Can I ask you how long you took Thc? 2.5 years is a terribly long time. I am praying I don’t have to be like this for years. I only used edibles and occasionally vaped for 1 and a half years. So I am hoping I don’t have these symptoms for a couple years. Although, no one really knows the effects long term of edibles since they are a newer form of using THC.

I smoked for 15 years and the last three years was strong vaping and dabbing. I am at 6 months and getting better but still have issues. I think we all heal differently but from the posts I have read most people see huge differences after 1 year. However, I would like to know how long sparklefly smoked as well. Thanks guys.

Yes, I have seen that too regarding the 1 year. I know when I hit 9 months it has been like night and day from the 6 month point! I have over done it the past 2 months, because I felt so much better, so I think that has something to do with my set back recently.

I’m just coming out of a bad wave at 9 months. It was terrible. It was dizzy, fatigued and weak for almost 3 weeks non stop. I’m talking extremely weak and fatigued, like just getting from bed to the kitchen had me holding on to something feeling like passing out with heart racing. The flu-like symptoms were debilitating. I’m a lot better today. My nerves are still fried. My muscles are cramping and twitching everywhere like crazy. I even get involuntary jerk movements. Hope this settles down soon, I’m exhausted man

Wow! @john5:15
I am having some of that too. The ringing in my head had gotten so much better I hadn’t even noticed it and now it’s back to ringing all day and night again. And the fatigue is terrible. I just want to not get out of bed, at all it’s so much work…lol
And the palpitations are back at night and during the day. Even though I am taking my medicine for it. If yours passed it gives me hope mine will too. It’s so disheartening when this happens. I always get scared I will be like this permanently, again…lol

The palpitations eventually go away. They still visit from time to time, but recently its like a random roulette of a wide range of symptoms. What medication are you taking and for what?

I’ve been 6.5 months sober and here are my symptoms: for some context I smoked on and off for 6+ years. Every day for the last 2 years. Smoked high potency weed, DAB and edibles.

1-2 months: Major anxiety, depression. I just wanted to sleep all day. I didn’t know how to feel happy anymore. I just felt blah.. I would stare at my son and felt nothing. It was horrible. I stayed home all day and had anxiety just getting out of the house. Vivid dreams. Major nausea. Actually lost 10 pounds the first few months without trying. Chest pain
3-4 months: felt much better. Waves of anxiety rather than all day every day. Vivid dreams disappeared.
5-6 months: huge turning point for me. All major, crippling symptoms have disappeared. If I have an anxiety attack it’s usually a few seconds. I can go out in public again without feeling so anxious. Lately I’ve been getting headaches. Like just overall fullness in my head. I don’t feel like I’m still 100%. Sometimes I feel spacey.
