Depression and Confidentiality

Postby SilverRing » Thu Feb 25, 2021 5:47 am

I have been struggling with what I believe to be depression and have had several reoccurring thoughts. I don't want to come out with anything or see a counselor because it could mess with my ability to get the job I want in the future. Is there a legitimate way to find out what exactly it is I have without documentation?

Depression has certainly been a major issue for many people since covid restrictions came into force. If you scroll down a bit you'll see to the right of your screen that the forum provides some depression resources; maybe they'll help with a self-diagnosis.

I understand your fears about how a diagnosis could impact on your job prospects. As far as I know doctor-patient confidentiality is still considered important, but that may not be the case as increasing intrusion into our lives is to be expected.

I've long believed depression is anger turned inwards. You're certainly not alone if you've noticed our fundamental freedoms are being taken from us.
