Benefits of playing chess

Postby James_Lee » Fri May 24, 2019 3:40 am

Hey all,
I also happen to be an avid chess player. I play for fun and not professionally. Is there any proven benefit from playing chess (other than having a good time)? Anyone else here play chess for relaxation?
Thanks

Chess is a known game for improving memory and logic. n fact if you do enjoy the game and have fun playing and relaxing with it then this is a pure win win situation!

Maybe distraction of your mind, and training it by thinking/focusing and making quick decisions under pressure

Its a great past time if you end up in hospital for a while like I did. Played with other patients and staff.

Chess is good for brain development, not in physics but in logic and attention span and in memory issues. It will not solve mental health issues in general. I find that old people that play chess are less effected by old age mentally.
