Hi everyone - I've been in radio for over 25 years, I'm compiling a Top 5 list of the worst fears of speaking in public - can anyone help ???

I have had a vast experience of public speaking. My simple tip . Dont ever worry about HOW you are saying anything. Just be passionate about WHAT you are saying. Never talk about a subject you have no interest for. Passion shows though and gives you inner confidence. If you have no interest in the subject - you are in the wrong job !!

1. Don't sit, standing makes you feel the body and distract from the mind and also gives you better perception of the place, so its easier to get in the flow.

2. Take a pen or some other thing in your hand, and hold it - try to put a lot of attention to its details and movement. Helps to distract the mind from the destructive thoughts.

3. Practice and practice, ..

4. Do not simulate failure. :)

I partially agree with this but I don't think it's all about the passion. If you're doing a sales presentation, for example, wouldn't your method of speaking be incredibly important in the overall effect?

Chewing gum during a speech has got to be a bad idea.

At best you'll look like you don't respect your audience,

At worst you'll spit the gum into the front row within the first five minutes.
