Many people say that we need confidence in order to succeed, and confidence can only be developed over time as you practice and develop your skills. I agree in most part, but I think there's more to it. When we look at athletes, oftentimes, it isn't the most talented or hardworking ones that succeed...
It's all about breaking out of your comfort zone. Focus on small things first like eye contact and volume, and over time, you'll naturally become more confident. Practice is really the only way to go.
Instead of spending your time trying to control your dreams, wouldn't it be more productive to focus on your life? The dreams are just a product of what you've been thinking throughout the day anyways.
What you think and dream about is simply what you input in your mind in the first place being churned out into something new. Try putting a stop to all the horror movies and violent tv/videogames/online stuff/etc. Replace it with something more uplifting, like motivational tapes.
Maybe this has already been suggested, but how about going in front of a camera and talking like you would if you were speaking to a regular person? Then you can see for yourself you're doing anything strange.
Looking at your username, I'd say that your negative self image is mostly in your head. You look fine to me. It's your expressions that matter most, really.
Thanks for the all the tips! I find filming myself especially helpful, although I do have trouble changing my voice. Unfortunately, my voice is a bit nasally and have trouble changing it. Got any advice for this?
I think you need to try to find your purpose in life. What do you really enjoy doing? Instead putting yourself down, be grateful of the things you do have. You're only 25, you've got everything you need to improve your life. Just make the decision to do it.
