I was curious on other people thoughts on time or more how time works. The way I see it every even and every choice can make a giant impact. It's the butterfly effect a single butterfly can change the wind patterns enough to create a tornado. I believe that a choice as simple as choosing what to have for breakfast can impact your day completely.

Since I believe small choices can create change my life it makes small choices extremely difficult to make. I spend more time worrying about the small pointless things then actually doing things. It terrifies me that the most pointless little choice could make me live 20 years less.

Then again sometimes I think the size of the impact is always the same as the size of the choice. For example if I were going to have a muffin in the morning rather then a bagel it would not effect my day at all and most certainly would not effect my life. So anyone else have any thoughts in this.

I wholeheartedly agree with you, minute by minute decisions make one future more likely than another, and Big Decisions are the ones we know are irreversible.

When you have this understanding, you need to be able to trust yourself and your instincts. You do this with mindfulness in the muffin vs bagel type decision, ie. being aware that you're making a choice between A and B, and noticing what happens. Bigger decisions: take the car, walk, or go by public transport. You could have a minor car accident that will spoil your day, feel great about the exercise or misjudge the weather and get soaked, or sit next to someone on the bus with whom you start a conversation.

Notice the effects of the choices you make, and banish thoughts of the road not taken -- which by definition you can never know about. Every choice shuts out other choices, but the choice to 'freeze' and do nothing is probably the worst you can make. Exercise caution when necessary, but never let it paralyse you.

It's a lot of fun when you get the hang of it.
