16 years and I want to loose 10 kilos / 22 pounds

Postby Still so much life in fro » Sun Jan 02, 2011 8:25 pm

Hee hee!

Tomorrow it's monday, vacation is over, and the daily routines begin again.
BUT: not all the daily routines. Tomorrow is the day, that I wanna quick with all that eating. I'm 16 years old, and I want to loose 10 kilo / 22 pounds.
I'm so done with my body. I want to feel good again.
I'm practicing the zumba twice a week and I really enjoy doing it.
When I get up in the morning I'm motavited because I only eat cereals or a sandwich, but when I come home I only want to eat candies and cookies.

My last 'diet' I carried on for 4 weeks. After that, I grabbed a lot of cookies and candies again. I can't call it a diet, because I don't like diets. I just want to eat well, and loose some wight, without a planned scedule.
Planned diets is also expensive.

Now I need some advice how I can make this work out.
Has anyone a tip how I can make this work? How can I hang on for more then 4 weeks?

Please help!!

In nutrition, diet is the sum of food consumed by a person or other organism. Dietary habits are the habitual decisions an individual or culture makes when choosing what foods to eat. With the word diet, it is often implied the use of specific intake of nutrition for health or weight-management reasons.

In specific all that you eat and drink are consider a diet.
Here what I suggest you is stop thinking in a DIET as cure or a regimen first and also stop thinking in a magical diet where you can loss 10Kg in 4 weeks it can be done but most of the time which comes easy, easy goes, I suggest you to start lowing down carbs and fat, and increase protein and liquids (mainly plain water), increase vegetables and fruits, it also helps to eat 4 to 5 times a day but only portions that can fit in your hand.

What you are feeling after you got home is the need of energy and mainly carbs, so I suggest you to replace with some protein.

At the beginning it is hard to follow due because we create the bad habit to eat and drink unhealthy but as much you balance what you eat and drink you will feel better and healthy.
Proteins are the fuel of your muscles so increasing them you will notice you feel stronger and it will be easier to burn fat, also I suggest you combine Zumba with some light workout as lifting weights or some intense cardio session .

Mainly love your self set some goals and eat and drink well, you are in an excellent age to make changes in your health

Are you female, right..??

Thank you for your reaction.

Iceman, you actually helped me to think positive.
You said: 'is stop thinking in a DIET', and I think you're absolutely right!
I don't have to think that I'm on a diet, I just need to eat healthier food.

In the first days it's not that hard to eat healthy food, but after a couple of weeks I just don't want to eat it anymore.
I'll try to think that I'm not on a diet, maybe it works!

Haha, yes I'm female. It doesn't surpise you, ha? :)

Thanks a lot!

Hi :)

"I don't have to think that I'm on a diet, I just need to eat healthier food."

That's a really good way to look at it, and a good idea from Iceman Mex. I'm gonna remember that one too :)

Have you ever read or watched any of those Paul McKenna things about how to lose weight? He always says something similar - that diets make you fat. It makes sense when you think about it. The idea of a diet keeps the mind focused on food, and that the last thing a person needs to be thinking of. And many diets are about restricting food, which often leaves a person feeling hungry. And when feeling hungry, what do you always think about?

So he recommends eating whatever you want (within reason!) but to eat 'consciously'. Savour every single mouthful and think about how you feel. And as soon as you feel full, stop eating - even if that means leaving part of a meal. That's the point where your body has consumed exactly the right amount of calories for its needs, and any more will be stored away as fat.

If you're interested in the book, it's: I Can Make You Thin - by Paul McKenna.

Some people find that self hypnosis helps them stick to a healthier eating routine, and there are a few Weight Loss Downloads here.

Good luck :)

That book definitely got my interests. Thank you for the tip!
I'm trying my best to hold on, but it's hard sometimes and then I just need some motivation and I think that a book will remind me of what I am suppose to do!

Again: thank you!! :D

Hopefully I can post someday that I actually lost 10 kilos, haha!

I'm glad it helped :)

"Hopefully I can post someday that I actually lost 10 kilos, haha!"

There's no hoping about it... one day you will, and I look forward to reading about it ;)

But for the meantime, while it's OK to keep that 10 kilos in the back of your mind, it can help to focus on some smaller goals - say, 1 kilo, or even half. Sometimes it gets a bit demoralising aiming for a big goal because it seems so far away.

And another thing that can really help is to allow for the odd blip. Often a person has a little setback and gives up, thinking everything is ruined. But life never runs in a nice smooth line like that, as much as we would like it to. Just remind yourself that it was just a minor deviation, and that you're still heading in the right direction - the direction of your dreams.

Take care :)

Hi,,,, sorry for late response, I'm glad I helped you a bit.

There are many food you can eat, if you get bored, change for other healthy food, I mean if you started with salads and chicken for example next week try fish and vegetables. You can also eat some meat but try to decrease de portion you regularly eat, but mainly try to avoid sugar and carbs as much as possible.

I asked you your gender cause male and female are different, so I can recommend a good exercise routine, one which not let you grow lots of muscles as men,, LOL..!!!

Hey,

I've had some problems in the past with going on diets then letting them go. My girlfriend describes me as an "all or nothing guy" meaning that when I'm dieting I am sticking to it. But the minute I go off of it I'm eating whatever the heck I want and when I want.

The thing that has helped me lose weight (and I only really needed to lose about 20-25 lbs) was this. If you shouldn't be eating it, then don't buy it. Stay away from those isles at the store that have all those junk foods you like if you can avoid them. If you have to go down an isle for a specific item, don't be gazing at everything on the shelf. This way, if you're at home and you're hungry, the only options you have are healthy foods.

I've been training for Olympic Lifting comps so I've been trying to lose weight until I'm down to around 175-180. I'm currently about 195 which is about 20 lbs less then what I weighed Jan 3 of this year. I have been following a ketogenic diet, which is sort of like the atkins diet, but I think it's a bit healthier. But by not keeping food in the house that I shouldn't be eating, you eliminate that temptation to eat it.

Also, a lot of dieting is entirely dependant on your mental state. Once you get the urge to eat something you shouldn't just remind yourself what you're trying to accomplish. I put little notes on the pantries and stuff with "175" on them so that when I go to get something to eat, unless it's for my usual meals, that little reminder keeps me from acutally pulling anything from out of the pantry. Just little things like that can really make an impact on how successful you are in your weight loss.
