a newbie

Hi. I have been looking for info and came across this site, and hope someone can help.

18 months ago my GP referred me for gastric bypass surgery as I am overweight due to illness and the drugs I take. I have always had a sweet toth.

However, in the past 6 months things have got really bad. I am just eating everything and in particular I am craving chocolate and just buying loads and don't seem to be able to control things.

A lot of the info I have read mention MH problems, but I am happily married and just finishing a college course with a place at Uni for September (as a mature student). All is going really well so I have no stresses. Only probs are lack of finances but then I think everyone has probs like that these days.

If anyone can help with a starting point, I'd be really grateful. I know I shouldn't it, I know what I should be eating and I know the damage it's doing to my health but just can't stop.

I'm getting to the end of my tether as cannot see any way of stopping.

Any help would be very well received. Thank you.

Pretty controversial and potentially irresponsible link there. Also, insulin resistance is something you can be tested for at the doctors. It is otherwise known as diabetes type II. Possible, as this increases sugar cravings, but more likely to be a psychological disorder. (I'd also like to add that I have had both anorexia and compulsive eating disorder and I can assure you I am physically well - otherwise how could I no longer have ED without having had any physical treatment?)

Tsk, alternative therapy - there's a reason it's alternative.

To the OP: Every eating disorder, whether anorexia, bulimia or compulsive eating disorder, is caused by the same thought: "I must lose weight" or sometimes "I must maintain my weight".

Is it possible that the pressure of needing to keep the weight off following your surgery is what is causing you to eat?

But what causes the thought? In other words "stop the thought and you stop anorexia!"
