Informative Speech

Start by creating your central idea first. The preview statement will simply be a short explanation of your central idea. When creating your central idea, break it down into three parts. For example, you'll be discussing Verbal Skills, Written Skills, and Non-Verbal Skills (I'm making these up). Once you have your three core ideas, add three bits of information to each one. So for example, in your Verbal Skills, you will have three sub-topics such as Speaking with Clarity, Speaking in terms understood by the patient, Speaking with Care and Compassion. Do that for each of your core ideas and you will begin to see your presentation come together.

Your preview statement will be a preview of what you'l be discussing. Something like: "Today I will be discussing Communications Skills essential for nurses working in a hospital setting. I will cover Speaking with Clarity, Written Skills, and Speaking with Care and Compassion. I will explain why each of these skills is essential to a nurse's success in providing excellent care to their patients...etc."
