Advice please

Postby jclaydon » Thu Jun 10, 2004 8:55 am

Am new to the board and am after some advice.

I've had a fear of flying for a number of years now, which I've recently just been able to control to some extent. However I now seem to have developed high levels of anxiety in other areas of my life, particularly social situations.

Even if I am going out with friends (or family) to somewhere we've been before, I become very anxious, feeling sick and am close to not going (although this hasn't happened yet).

I've been through the panic course online and listened to the hypnosis downlaods for 'social phobia' and 'self-confidence booster'. Has anyone used the panic attack one? I'm supposed to be going out tonight and am trying to think up excuses already.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi There

I would certainly recommend the panic prevention programme - I have only been listening to it for a week and whilst I'm by no means 100% better, I'm having more good days than bad. A week ago I couldn't even sit in a restaurant and yet today I've been out for lunch, had my hair done and visited a friend. The programme has some great tips on how to deal with panic attacks and the relaxation session is superb.

Good luck in your recovery, don't ever give up, you can beat this.

Best wishes
