Furthermore, when someone receives a Private Message, what notification do they get? NOTHING.

This needs to be tackled, have a pop up window come up or something like that whenever someone gets a message.

Also, this forum needs a lot more members and advertising.
From what i've noticed, moderators dont tend to post much, and i think with them being more active this will encourage members to be more active also.

dec123, you can view member profiles as things stand by hitting the profile button at the bottom of people's posts.

You can also receive e-mail notifications for your PMs as well by editing your own profile.

As for the "members online" feature, personally, I don't like it at all, so count me as a vote against that proposal.
