Postby success256 » Wed Oct 09, 2013 10:49 am

Hello,
Are you overwhelmed at the thought of speaking in front of a crowd.
But do you know fear can serve a important fundamental purpose.
It helps to preserve and protect the human being.
Without fear people will engage in harmful activities.
However sometimes it gets entwined in our emotional system and may
work against us.
Identifying the situation and responding in the most appropriate
manner can help us to understand the correct concept of fear.

Reflect
On fear and its importance.
Is fear taking over our life.
Is it a restricting force.
All these analysis is useful when we take up Public speaking.

Thanks for your time and patience in reading my post,pl do leave a comment.

I would suggest there is no such thing as a man without fear... in fact one look around reveals that humans LOVE engaging in harmful activities.

Fear has a purpose. It's important for us to know where it limits us and where it's useful. It's in our best interest to face the fear that limits us, and acknowldege and accept the fear that prevents us from harming ourselves.

Fear is a mindset. You choose whether or not it controls you. Instead of letting your fear paralyze you, allow your fear to become your adrenaline. Realize that there is always a tomorrow, always a next time, always another person. So what is there to lose? Often the risk is so worth the gain.

I love what mappingtheterritory said:

"So what is there to lose? Often the risk is so worth the gain." Yes, the risk so very much worth it. As an example, I was scared to create apps. My fear was, 'What will people think of them?' That stopped me from creating them for ages. Until one day I decided to create them to the best of my ability and see what feedback I get.

I took the risk. I ignored my fear. My apps are out there selling.

Thanks, mappingtheterritory, again for phrasing it so well.

the FEAR is exactly how it supposed to be; so we can FIGHT/FLIGHT situations

the animal predators (Lions, Crocodiles, snakes ) they never attack with a RELAXED state of the mind; unless it is about an unexpected SELF DEFENSE situation; they wait and watch to become ready for FIGHT/FLIGHT situation...

Those who teach MEDITATION: they need to keep that in mind; that RELAXATION does not bring you food on the table; do not work AGAINST MOTHER NATURE:

I only teach about RELAXATION when I see people PANIC about no good reasons; there are moments when we have to SNAP the brain out of: OBSESSION, EXCITEMENT ; because it may escalate to unnecessary ANXIETY or PANIC ATTACKS:

we refer as a " NEGATIVE STATE OF THE MIND " and make it looks like " THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE... " I don't think it is CORRECT to say something like that; it would be better to say " UNNECESSARY STATE OF THE MIND.. "

You are doing good; it is just not a good time to do that; it is time to RELAX; this may be not a good time to think CRITICAL:

When a student has an EXAM: they need to think CRITICAL ABOUT THAT: because the EXAM DAY is soon about to come;

if you did not STUDY before EXAM DAY: it means you have accepted FAILURE the days before that; you did not do what you were supposed to do and now it is not a good time to PANIC and REGRET about that: You are doing good; but you are doing it at the WRONG TIME: you were supposed to think about that when you were wasting your time...

We don't need to put ourselves on too much PRESSURE: there need to be TOLERANCE for MISTAKES, we have to ACCEPT ourselves with all the mistakes that we do;

but CRITICAL THINKING is what make us SUCCESSFUL; we need to think CRITICAL TODAY: so we work hard TODAY so we can create possibilities to PASS an EXAM after TWO MONTHS:

and this is the same with PUBLIC SPEAKING: you have to think LONG TIME BEFORE THAT: and when the day comes about PUBLIC SPEAKING: you only share what you know; you don't have to be CREATIVE, you don't have to be PERFECT: you don't have to be the SMARTEST person in HUMAN HISTORY: love yourself ; be PROUD what you already know; and only share what you know;

JUST BECAUSE YOU KNOW IT: it DOES NOT MEAN that other people KNOW IT: there are lots of people CURIOUS about to listen what you KNOW

You KNOW something that I don't know, because you was FOCUSED on something ELSE, it sounds stupid to you but it maybe doesn't sound stupid to me;

You maybe the one who doesn't value what you know; I may be the one DESPERATE to learn that; that possible you don't value; I don't care; I am a CURIOUS man

When we know something we may have a feeling about; or may think that EVERYONE else knows that; because it looks simple to us; but it is not SIMPLE for them; they don't know everything that you know; they know something else; you know something else;

we share opinions, we share experiences, we share what we KNOW because they don't know it; and they are happy that you are SHARING,

a DOG TRAINER may think; his TIPS are STUPID: on PUBLIC SPEAKING: the PROBLEM is that I have a DOG and I have no idea what to do; I need your TIPS no matter how stupid they sound I am desperate to do something ; whatever it is;

Public SPEAKING; is just about; VALUING your EXPERIENCES in LIFE: no matter how stupid they sound; or simple; PEOPLE want to LISTEN;

People listen to RELIGION freaks ; people listen to some MUSIC TRASH LYRICS: why would they not listen to you who have STUDIED and have something much more worth to say;

There are youtube tips about: " HOW TO OPEN A BANANA " and it has Millions of VIEWS ; because PEOPLE are curious to listen no matter how STUPID it sounds; so never be afraid to SHARE what you know;

I just want people to THINK CRITICAL so they can WORK HARD: I don't want people to think CRITICAL for what they have to share; whatever you have; share it...

Never be afraid to share what you know. There will always be people who are interested in learning what you have to say. The key thing is finding such people and then you can deliver your knowledge - they most likely will love what you have to share.

Fear helps you in many ways. Fear is the prime motivator to be prepared. Fear in the appropriate doses can ensure your success.

Fear becomes a problem when it makes you dysfunctional.

In most of the cases facing fear directly is the best way to begin overcoming it.

For me Fear is a natural emotion that we experience. I know that when we are nervous, it shows we care about the content we are sharing as well as making an impact to the audience watching.

I would also say that Fear is a mindset that we can overcome. Fear stands for:

False
Evidence
Appearing
Real

Knowing this can dramatically help us to think about fear in a different way and that you can conquer it.

when you make two steps forward and three steps back: these are inner conflicts

You want to do something; but at the same time you think you are making a mistake

This is when Anxiety and Fear come from most of the times;

for example: I want to APPROACH a woman on a street but I am afraid it would be a mistake ( because maybe she is married, maybe she rejects me )

so we can overcome these INNER CONFLICTS: we have to make decision

for example if I want to approach a woman on a street; I need to DECIDE: I want to approach her and I don't care about if I am making a mistake or not :

so you get to that point when you move three steps forward and maybe one step back: because the DECISION has been made but still sometimes the FEAR keeps ALERTING you about if there is something you are not supposed to do;

The FEAR does not come from nowhere; FEAR is our own CREATIVITY: our BELIEVES

FEAR is you telling yourself : DON"T DO THAT BECAUSE IT COULD BE A MISTAKE

But than you make a DECISION to move forward: you say I DON"T CARE ABOUT MISTAKES

Most of our fears are old, learned beliefs that keep us stuck. It is not always our fault that we have these fears, but it is our responsibility to remove them. When we really look at our old beliefs and challenge them, it can be quite liberating to find out that the majority of them are simply no longer true. And as laureat said, say to yourself, "I don't care about mistakes". Because when you are prepared or willing to make a mistake, it is unlikely you will make one.

We all have fears, but the question is how you will deal with them. Successful people focus on what they want, while others focus on their fears.
