Psychic Dreams

Postby davidbanner99@ » Wed Apr 07, 2021 8:15 pm

Was very disturbed on Sunday and upset. Close to an anxiety state. The week before, I woke up after an unpleasant dream. The dream was one where I overheard some friends discussing me, but not knowing I was behind the door. In the dream I heard really awful things said about myself so woke up. I have a best friend from India and later told her about the dream.
On Sunday, this dream became close to reality. I overheard a discussion and almost exactly the same comments were made as in the dream. Where the dream differed was it was family and not the friends, as was the case in the dream. Being the way I am, when emotions surface, they come explosively. I don't recall being so angry for months and rushed off home. I broke off connections with the family member and this may be permanent. When my friend phoned I told her the whole story and she said I. sounded a bit shaken up.
This dream I now take to have been a warning or a message of some big change. The sense I get is I'm likely to rift with family in a serious way. The vaccine situation is also somehow linked in a way I sense. My family all had the vaccine whereas I did not.
This can be taken at face value. Yes, I dreamed something that later took place but, yes, facts were not totally accurate. Only the meaning was.

I never mentioned this but all my life I suffered from Old Hag Syndrome. I've not had it happen now for some months.
Old Hag Syndrome is when you're asleep and become acutely aware of a malevolent presence. You sense someone who hates you is outside your door and thinking about entering. At that point you try to wake up but feel so sunk in sleep you can't pull out of it. When you feel the door opens up, the figure may be either male or female. Sometimes it's someone you know. Much as you try to just move or shout, nothing happens. On one occasion I felt the figure stretch its hands to my neck and suddenly catapulted out of bed as a shock reaction. My leg had cramped up and my head knocked on the hard floor. However that was many months ago. I now sleep in the same room as my cactus plants and generally feel it's a calm environment.

Don't blame dreams for decisions you make.

You made the decision to throw a tantrum over comments you overheard by a family member. You made the decision to break off connections.

Dreams are not excuses. You are 100% responsible for your behaviors.

If you get "the sense" that you are going to fail at something, guess what happens? You fail. If you get "the sense" that you will have a rift, guess what will happen? You will have a rift.

People do this to themselves all the time. They set themselves up for failure. They sabotage or self handicap, using "a dream" to rationalize future decisions they make.

It's not a nuts and bolts company pep talk on positive thinking. It's about dreams actually taking place. And curiosity to wonder why. It has happened before but not often.

Why? Because people "make" it happen.

As people have dreams, over time, it is inevitable that at some point in the future something will happen that they can try and connect back to one of any number of dreams, e.g. "Last week I dreamed it would rain, and today it rained."

It happens more or less often, dependent on how strong the person believes in the power of dreams. A person who truly believes dreams can predict future events will find clever ways to "make" those connections, therefore it will happen more often.

Dreams are caused. If a person watches a horror movie, the temperature is off, they get wrapped up in a blanket the wrong way, eat spicy foods, are worried about an upcoming event, etc. etc. etc. this can result in dreams. So many variables might contribute to a dream. There is no way to really know which all factors and how they combine to cause a specific dream.

Given dreams are caused by any number of variables, they are not psychic predictors of the future. Dreaming of an argument can be traced back to eating spicy buffalo wings while binge watching 'Naked and Afraid'. That over the next few days the person finds themself in an argument has zero to do with the dream, except to the extent they choose to "make" that connection.

Past experience has taught me a lot about sleep. When I was somewhere around ten I had this dream where I met an old woman in an unknown house. In the dream there was this stuffed owl on the wall. I pointed at this owl and asked what it was. Then the old woman screamed in rage and I woke up.
Around 1996 I was in Estonia, the location where Eugen Bleuler did his research into Schizophrenia. Estonian language is related to Finnish. At the time I needed a place to stay and a girl from an agency was showing me locations on her list. It's a long story but the first place we got to seemed somehow familiar. There was just this old woman who spoke only Estonian. On the wall, a stuffed owl. How very weird that was. I pointed towards it and the old woman flew into a rage. All I could gather by intuition was I'd somehow disrespected something to do with the bird. The young blond secretary with me went pale, grabbed my hand and said we should run. Then added that the place was crazy and she'd find me somewhere normal. She did just that and I stayed with the Tamella family.
The dream I never forgot in the sense it had come to reality somehow. Since, the issue of time has fascinated me. The Einstein Tesla debate on Relativity was of much interest.

The domestic issue I decided to deal with wisely. I down-played it. I answered the phone as normal. When arguments take place, others may be affected and that's not very fair on them. It is better I don't visit but decided to not turn it into a major issue.
I just have to accept there is some underlying resentment within my family - it wasn't always the case.
Some people have been telling me a lot of family relationships are under strain due to this vaccine. It has caused real fragmentation. I'm the only one refusing it so that led to the odd clash.
Still, bearing a grudge isn't healthy. Better to just make an excuse and let it pass.

Your story sounds like a typical "psychic dream" where an explanation is reverse engineered. I had a dream when I was younger where cows were catapulted to their death over a village wall and down a cliff. Decades later I saw a cow sacrificed in a village as part of a funeral ritual. I could reverse engineer the cow sacrifice as being foretold by my dream. We can all reverse engineer our experiences and trace them back to some similar elements of previous dreams.

It is a rather common experience, I think. After all, the idea of psychic dreams is fun to explore, same as tarot cards, astrology, or palm reading.

In my childhood dream there was no association of being in Estonia. There was just the house, the woman, the owl and her scream. Even at the time of the experience, I had no idea Estonia is the historical witchcraft hub of Europe. The woman we encountered, I should add, was definitely deeply involved in witchcraft. It seemed like that at the time but it was only years later I discovered how strong witchcraft is in.Estonian culture.
Below is a video of a musician who goes to visit a real witch. The one I encountered was somewhat older and genuinely scary.

Quoted:

"Little did I suspect that Estonian is weirder than anything I could imagine. In this tiny nation, there are more than 40 words for witch, and likely more. Only a few are related to one another.
Truly, witches must be deeply significant personages in Estonia, or were so in the past.

Leaving out the dozens of words for witchcraft and witchery included on the Estonica web site, we can begin our list with ammamees or hambamees, which literally means tooth-man, and continue to arp, ask, jalapoiss (literally leg-boy), kaalunaine (weighing-woman), kade (which means envious) to kaldun.

Then there are maanatark (earth-something or other-wise), norts, nõiakas, nõias, and the widely used nõid, as well as nõidlik, with nõid being pronounced the way a denizen of Brooklyn, NY would say “nerd”.

Continuing alphabetically, we find poltarak, porss, punk, rabi, ragan, rõugutaja, silmänuumija which comes from Setu county in southeastern Estonia, sorbik, sorp, sorpja, sort and sorts, these last two related to our English word sorcerer somehow, along with sortsikas.

Sumpja is another word from the Setu dialect, followed by suri, taigaline and the widespread tark, which means “wise”. Teadlane, which can also mean scientist (!), is used in a few areas, along with related teadmamees (knowing-man). Tontinimene (ghost-person) comes next, followed by Russian-sounding tsarovnik.

We also have tuusija, velets, vilpus, viuh-änd, vornik and finally võlu, another one that has a rather wider use.

And the list from Estonica.com doesn’t even include some of the words I mentioned at the beginning, like loits, arbus, posija, lausuja, ennustaja, and synaja, which I discovered in other rambles through Google. That makes a grand total of 46 words for witch, and I’ll bet there are more.

I can draw a few conclusions from this.

One is that witches and their works played an important role in Estonian society at some time in the past. This is understandable when you have people depending on the success of their harvests, their fishing catches and their herd animals as matters of life or death. There were both male and female witches in Estonia, while the dictionary definition above tends to view witches as mostly female. "

Where am I going with this? Has my credibility as a psychology student gone up in smoke?
I think psychic people throughout history attempted to find some way to express their experiences, visions or dreams. Witchcraft was one such way. Actually Paul Cooijman himself stated a normal person can vastly enhance his, or her, associative horizon by such plants as mushrooms. The Druids did just that. Not that I recommend dabbling in the occult or in plant roots.
It's also very imoportant to be aware of fraudsters, fanatics, cults and swindlers. I believe most people have had at least one psychic experience, seen a ghost or had some premonition. A smaller few have experienced a lot more.
For me, it was mostly in childhood. Here the problem is I suffered symptoms of Schizophrenia from a very early age. All sorts of disturbing sensory stimulae. Despite that, I suspect that so often mental illness opens other gates to the brain, allowing it to extend its horizon. The great inventor Nikola Tesla, in fact, was also very sensitive, open to the paranormal. Very unlike other great scientists. He had Synthesia too.
