This really helps with public speaking

Postby Becky Fontenot » Thu Aug 22, 2013 6:38 am

What has really helped me to overcome a paralyzing fear of public speaking is this:
I see myself before a class or group enjoying myself, smiling, having great hand gestures, great eye contact,
being very confident and bold, imitating a speaker I admire...
This has really worked for me and it will work for you.
The body follows the mind...
What you think you will become...
Just make sure that you know your material as well...
Then visualize yourself doing the above things when you speak...
If you keep imagining doing a bad job or seeing yourself fail, that is what you will do
The mind is very powerful.
Use this technique. It really works.
Has anyone else tried this? Please share.
What are your thoughts?

I think this is great advice! Visualization is very important when practicing public speaking. All the top public speaking coaches say to always visualize your audience. If you find this difficult to do, try audience simulators. Just google public speaking audience simulators and see what's out there.
