Trance? Heartrate increase?

Postby xhelomom » Tue Mar 29, 2016 5:59 pm

Hello all :)

I'm completely new to hypnosis. A friend of mine watched a video on youtube that she claimed helped her with her weight loss, so I thought - what the heck, I'll give it shot. The instructions were to fall asleep with it. Cool.. did that. But curiousity got the best of me the next day and I began to watch other informational vids about hypnosis, what to expect, and so on. I tried one about "can I go into trance" where there were suggestive messages about one hand having helium and the other with a dictionary. Sure enough - in my mind - my hand was up over my head, and I was shocked to find out it was stil right in front of me. That was awseome! I began to search for basic vids induction and relaxation, and admittingly creeped over to the dark side and saw there were vids with ::blushes::: um, adult matter on them. (Hey I'm 51...give me a break..lol).
I tried stting, I tried lying flat, eyes open, eyes closed... REALLy tried to relax...and nothing. I found the "snaps" would startle me, but not send me into sleep despite my willingness.
But then, I finally felt something...like I was floating...a wave of lightness almost lifted me. But my heartrate increased as did my breathing. I convinced myself to stay there and slow down my breathing but it scared the crap out of me.
Curious if this was trance, I watched/listened to several others to see if I could envoke the same feeling..and it's becoming more frequent..but still with the heartrate...is that normal?
The onces that get me to that state, I listen to again, and I know where the snaps are - and they don't really send me any deaper (i don't think) then where I already am..and I certainly don't get the pleasures that are offered on those "other" vids.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Well, increased breathing and heartrate is a normal response to arousal. Do you think that might be what you're experiencing?

As for why it's not working for you, sometimes certain methods don't work for certain people. Other files might work far better for you. Also, sometimes things don't take effect the first time, but will start to work after repetition.

If files aren't working out for you, and you're daring enough, you could try this with a live hypnotist. I know several people who do live sessions like that, and they can be done completely via text if you're uncomfortable with voice or video.

Thank you for the quick reply! This heart beat increase though is with all files nor just "that" one..lol
Another question. .the, volume of the file, should it be as Loud as comfortable, normal, soft, or does it just depend in me? I found if it was a little on the louder side I was engaged more..

In that case, that's probably a good volume for you. As long as it's not getting so loud that it disturbs you.

As for increased heart rate with all trance, that's not something that I'm familiar with. Perhaps someone else will know better.

I wonder if it's the result of one of the files you've already used? Sometimes people have unexpected reactions to suggestions. If that's the case, a hypnotist could help you to remove that effect.

So I tried a variety of files last night in an attempt to rest (husband snoring is part of my motivation - I'm so light of a sleeper). Going into trance state was less of an event.. I think the first few times - somehow I may have been anxious and fearful of "where I was going" Now that I'm confident that I can go in and out..the reaction is much calmer - I have to say though... I could lay around all day and do this...I've been more mellow now than I have ever been. I also tried some ASMR vids and have found -and... wow. I have problems with misophonia - chewing, tapping, swallowing.... I thought in no way will I be able to relax with the tapping, whispers, and other triggers - but I was completely wrong...I'm curious to see how my tolerance is now with others chewing noises... whole new world for me... wish I had found this stuff years ago. In reference to "trying one of those other files with a live hypnotist"...yea...no way in heck am I THAT brave! LOL

That's great! So your breathing and heart rate has calmed down? If those files still aren't working for you, I think that you'll find that they start working more and more with practice.
