Dealing with unchangeable things.

Postby ChurchAR » Sun Feb 23, 2014 2:18 am

I feel like I set my goals to high, and I want to do everything in the world, but the things I want to do most I feel like I can't do, like be in a college American football team as a lineman because I'm only 6 foot and I can't change that because my parents aren't tall enough. I can't change my past, my genetics, or my future. I feel the need to have control of things like this, and that all my goals are related to things like genetics.
How do I deal with things like this? Thanks

The word want suggests that there is a hole in your life that only can be filled by the object that you want. You brain notices this lack and this is called poverty thinking and can never bring you happiness.

All that you would really like is happiness and this happiness is already inside you, it is hiding behind the thought patterns to do with fear, anger, jealousy, blame, guilt, sorrow, irritation, tension, stress, sorrow and criticism. You can change your thought patterns one at a time. Letting go of negative thought patterns is possible and will have a massive impact on the quality of your life.

Here is a practical exercise that you can engage in.

Write out a list of all of the things that you want.

then

Re write the list and change the word "want" to would like.

Make your primary goal "I would like to be consistently happy."

You can only change things you have control over. I suggest change your goals and make them realistic. There are gazillion areas in life where you can excel because your skills and everything about you matches.

Don't waste time on things you cannot change. Move on in life and enjoy.

Try new things and explore beyond your narrow choices.

All the best,

We all have our purpose in life. We are all unique and valuable. I always experiencing that, the feeling of i want to do great things and achievement in my life but the reality is if i cant do it, it's fine because the truth is i'm contented on what i have now.
Best of luck.
