Anxious boyfriend always bored

Postby walkingonglass » Mon Jun 05, 2017 8:51 am

Hi everyone.

So I have a question for you all. Been with my boyfriend for 6 years now and still learning about anxiety. It's been hard but I do love him a lot..

Recently he's been through something quite hard in his personal life, took him a few months to get over.. and during those months his anxiety was really really bad..
now that his problems have settled and he isn't as upset about it, it's like he's become.. bored? And he tells me how he feels frustrated cause he feels 'empty'.

It's like he always wants to have the most fun and stimulating conversations, he always want to be doing something where he feels extremely happy and entertained.. to be honest he has been like this for as long as I've known him but even more so now.

Has this anything to do with his GAD/ anxiety? Just need a little help of how to handle this.

Thank you

As long as you have known him. For 6 years he has wanted to do things that make him exteremely happy and entertained. That sounds more like his general personality, not a disorder.

Whether it is a disorder or just his personality, how is it negatively impacting your relationship? What has changed from 6 years ago to now?

He's always been a person who cannot be alone, distracted, bored.. it's not quite his personality as I do know him, it's like he's got nervous energy in him all the time but even more so now after this event

I understand it is more so now. What are you looking to accomplish? To get him to pre-event levels of nervous energy? How is the nervous energy impacting your relationship differently post event than the previous 6 years?
