Stage Hypnosis!

Postby plum_chum » Thu Sep 11, 2003 12:43 am

Hello everyone,

Seeing as this is my first post I'll make it one that has been on my mind for a while.

I seen a book titled " No Such Thing As Hypnosis " - I didn't buy it and didn't think much of it untill I seen a hypnotic induction done on someone on stage. They were just to sit there doing nothing untill they were asked to awake ( shortend but close enough ). I spoke to them after and she said it didn't feel like anything special, just like she was sitting with her eyes closed. I am fairly new to the hypnosis side of life so please set me off on the right track. This wasn't her just sitting with her eyes closed? She was under hypnosis?
Thank you for reading my seemingly endless drivel. : )

This isn't my area of expertise either but my ex-wife was a 3-pack a day smoker, and went to to a therapist for hypnosis.

After only a half hour session she had no desire to smoke and whenever she had a craving for a cigarette the suggestion of seeing the cigarette float away tied to a red balloon curbed the craving.

That was nine years ago.

Hi Rosalyn

Firstly, let me welcome you to the forums! :D

Hey, that sounds like an easy way to make money doesn't it?

Therapist: "Welcome to my clinic. Would you site down and close your eyes please?"

1 hour later...

Therapist: "That will be $100 please"

:?

It certainly doesn't sound like what you saw was much like hypnosis. If you'd like a full description of hypnosis, you might like to check this out:

Hope that clears things up a bit for you!

All the best

Roger
