Public speaking courses

Postby migds » Sun May 07, 2017 9:09 pm

Does anyone know of quality public speaking courses in the UK, ideally in the Northwest area? Was keen on doing the Dale Carnegie course after reading up on it but sadly they don't do the 12 week course anymore. Anything available of Carnegie's caliber worth doing?

Hi Candid,

Thanks for your post.

Do you have personal experience with the provider you posted? Any comments you can share regarding the courses they offer? Also, you posted a link for courses based around the Edinburgh area but I'm closer to Manchester; would that make any difference?

Thanks so much for your kind help.

No, I have no experience of public speaking courses. I used google.

I suggest you visit Manchester and ask at a library or something.

Is there a Toastmasters Club near you? They are great for learning and practicing Public Speaking. Hope this helps!

Wow, this sounds promising. Thanks for that! Will be sure to check them out.

Have you any personal experience with the Toastmasters Club, I wonder?

Yes, I joined them last year. You can go for free as a guest, the first couple of times and get a feel for it. If you like it, you'll join them for £60 for 6 month. I nearly talked myself out of going at the beginning and am so glad not to give in to that. My teaching has changed ever since I've been and I can look at people comfortably as I speak. I used to hover over them before! Good luck and let me know how you get on. D.
