Blushing

Postby courtneyjames23 » Mon Oct 21, 2019 5:57 pm

Hello all - since I started modeling/acting 10 years ago , if im not feeling 100% confident or if I care ‘too much’ about a job or casting i go completely red on all over my chest arms and cheeks. Im fair skinned and it literally looks like hives! (Some would admit their flushing isnt that bad but honestly does look hive like...). It happened today during the exact 2 minutes i needed to perform and NOT flush (this is common). It makes me super depressed afterwards. Id love any guidance on healing this..!

The absolute best solution is to apply for more roles as you keep modeling. Repetition develops tolerance and reduces stress. In psychological terms it is called the “novelty effect” and there is another term but it eludes me right now.

Second, tell the people that you flush. Part of the stress response is driven by an expectation of how others will react. You can reduce this by being upfront.
