CBT is regularly the treatment of decision for anger management, as indicated by Engle. She says it can assist you with understanding your triggers for anger, create and work on adapting abilities, and think, feel, and act diversely because of anger, so you are more quiet and more in charge.

Well, yeah, I mostly agree in regards to your terse description of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). But you are wrong about how the purpose is to "UNDERSTAND your Triggers". There is nothing to understand except that certain Habitual Behaviors, that is, Angry Behaviors, are getting you into trouble and so such behaviors need to STOP. And, yes, it is often our Habits of Thought that lead us into our Habits of Action. So we need to stop the THINKING that gets us into Trouble. But one cannot STOP Habits with mere insight. IDENTIFYING bad Habits in Thought and Action is relatively -- Whateve Gets You In Trouble.... and in the Larger Picture, because Cognitive Behavior Therapy is used for practically EVERYTHING nowadays, well, ANY Habit of Thought or Action that does not provide you with Positive Gain should be reviewed and evaluation in regards to Utility and replaced if you can think up something better to replace them with. The REAL TRICK in CBT is in regards to inventing NEW Habits of Thought and Action to replace the Old Bad Ways. Well, yeah, a Psychologist can help you with that, but consider that most Insurance Plans will give you 10 Sessions.... that is 10 Weeks, and, well, how much can you really do in 10 weeks. If the Psychologist is any good, he or she will instruct you on how to maker Cognitive Behavior Therapy work for yourself. Really, there are a lot of good Self Help Books that are based on Cognitive Behavior Therapy's Methodologies. My favorite Anger Management Author is Ronald Potter-Efron, but there are others. but stay away from anything that seem New Age or where they use the phrase "Anger is Natural" or "We Need To Listen To Our Anger"... that kind of talk does more harm than good. We, as people who have gotten into Trouble for Anger need to understand primarily that ANGER IS A BAD THING. The only Good Thing is NOT being Angry. But, yeah, the WORK involved is inventing and the Rehearsing the New Habits of Thought and Action. You got to tear down the Old You and rebuild yourself up from the Ground. You know how people are always saying "Just be yourself", well that is HORRIBLE Advice. Angry People need to STOP being that Angry Person. We need to REINVENT Ourselves. and it doesn't need to stop with just the Angry Habits of Thought and Behavior, no, while we are at it, we can upgrade our entire personalities.
But, yes, I have written more extensively about all of this: see my Post below "Anger Management Short Term and Long Term"
